Pleasant, but a Little Thin

I like the Faith Fairchild mysteries, though I have difficulty identifying with the well-heeled characters, who all seem to come from old money. (They aren't fabulously rich, just annoyingly well off.) This story seemed a little rushed at the end, I thought, but the book makes for a harmless summer read.

A Surprise for Me

First of all , I am going to apologize. I am not going to write a review for this book. Although I know of the author, Katherine Hall Page, I had not read any of her books. Even though Harlan Coben wrote an endorsement, I can't. This is as close to a 'cozy' as I have ever read. The basic story is not bad and the conclusion had some surprises but I couldn't stand all the food and recipe discussions !! Ugh !
There were even recipes in the back of the book.......sorry !!
I guess you could call this a book alert !

The Body in the Wake.

This is the 25th book in the award winning Faith Fairchild mystery series and I think probably one of the best. While the book is set in the familiar Maine area with all of the beloved characters of the author's previous books, there are new twists and turns after the main character Faith Fairchild finds a body while swimming in a neighborhood pond. The book then addresses the severe opioid crisis that is affecting every community, while still continuing to present her main characters expert culinary talents, and somehow manages to weave in wedding planning, and even a writers conference with some excellent tips for writing and conference organization. These comments make the book sound overcrowded, but the authors skill makes it all work. This is again a quick read because you can't put it down without finishing it. Must add that as usual, there are great New England area recipes in the back of the book.

At the Beach with Faith

I especially enjoyed this Faith mystery. It struck just the right note for a fun summer read and a visit with Faith, her family, friends, and a few new additions, foibles and all.

The plot and the ending

I have read all of the Faith Fairchild books and enjoyed most all of them. Especially as I lived in Hancock Point for 20 years up until 6 years ago and I always enjoy reading about the area that I was very familiar with. However ! I was quite disappointed in this one . Too many characters to keep track of. The plot was good though and it was a good idea to have made the drug situation a focal point as from what I hear it is a very bad situation up there.
One critical observation. Martha Stewarts house "Skywatch" can not be seen from the road !! There is a very long road (drive) to get there from the main road. I have been there with the Bar Harbor garden Club ! Small point which obviously did not alter the plot !!
I love your recipes and have made many of them in my Hancock days !
Keep writing and give my best to Anne Bossi and Bob ! They should remember me as the "Plum Pudding Lady " !!
Best wishes,
Lee

Great read

I started reading her books because of a bookmark advertisement. Have read and enjoyed every one. Faith is addictive as a heroine and her exploits and mystery solving are great entertainment.
