Good beginner book with a little of every thing even building equipment

[[ASIN:0793805465 The Beginner's Guide to Dog Agility]]

Easy to understand step by step guide. Directions for building your own equipment at a small cost, lets you see if your interested before investing a lot on better equipment. I like that it offers more than one way to work on the weave poles. This book is a good starting place.

Good Book To Get Started

Leach has done a very good job explaining how to get your dog to learn to navigate agility obstacles, and agility tricks . It is a great way to make a highly active dog (mine a border collie/australian shepherd) keep from getting into trouble (chewing, digging, etc). The book is easy to understand, and believe it or not it works. My girl and I are very happy, and have developed a stronger bond now that she has jobs and play she enjoys.

Bought this book BEFORE beginning agility classes with my dog COLT. Hence, we are already ahead of the class in our second week. Full of the ins and outs and do's and don'ts plus step by step instructions on teaching the beginning obstacles.

Good info!

I've got a reallllly smart dog, who continually needs challenged. I used what I learned in this book to set up an indoor agility course to keep Ubu busy during the rainy/snowy season. We had a lot of fun!

Great beginners guide

Easy to follow steps to teach each of the agility obstacles. Not sure if it's perfect if you are hoping to win ribbons, as I have never taken an official class. But it's great for a backyard enthusiastic beginner. Includes exceptionally easy and detailed guides for building your own equipment at home. Also teaches the fundamentals of what to expect if you are interested in formal trials, etc.
