The author's style of writing was good and he did keep his audience intrigued

This book was interesting enough to keep me reading. The author's style of writing was good and he did keep his audience intrigued, for the most part.

Why only a 3-star rating then? Because of the ending. The ending felt contrived and needed to be explained more. It kind of just left me hanging and felt incredulous. There was absolutely no build up or explanation as to why the murderer would have in fact committed such heinous crimes, there was nothing in that character's history that would have dictated even remotely that s/he was capable of such horrific, unspeakable acts.

Any good, psychological thriller is supposed to have at least one astonishing plot twist that pulls all the pieces together for a fantastic, unforgettable ending; and yes the book had such a plot twist, but the ending fell short of pulling all the pieces together. Very disappointed with the ending.

I wasted $10 buying this book that sounded like a wonderful read! I guess the advertising on FB paid off for Adam Croft. I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing. I also gave him the benefit of the doubt, and subscribed to his free short stories. No wonder they are free. They were boring, predictable, and a waste of my time. I UNSUBSCRIBED. Even FREE, they are not worth it. Do not spend your money on this book.

Wooden Characters

This book was not good. The story idea was good, but it was poorly executed. The two main characters are such stereotypes that it isn’t even laughable. They were caricatures of real people, totally unrealistic. The author tried way too hard to convince you of who the killer was. It just didn’t work.

Incredibly Suspenseful Book!!

If you are looking for a page-turner that will leave you in awe and wanting to know more about the characters, this is the book for you! I literally could not put it down and intend on reading everything Adam Croft wrote! So well-written! I’m a real book snob and do not typically give reviews. But this one?! I LOVED IT!!!!

I do not recommend this book.

I did not enjoy this book. Juvenile writing. No differentiation in style between characters who narrated in different chapters. It was almost like the author wanted to get to the end quickly and use a very boring solution. I do not recommend. In fact I won’t even keep this book in my library. It will be thrown out. It was boring and predictable and unbelievable.

Not good

I did not think it was very good. That was not an expected twist. Totally saw it coming. Didn't like the ending that things were not wrapped up.

Good outline, but falls a little flat for me

As an avid reader of mysteries, its well known that things are never as they appear to begin with, and this story is no exception. There is definitely a twist, but for a twist to work for me it has to come down as a hammer, unexpected but once it does all the pieces fall into place and it all makes sence all at once. But oddly enough the author of this story chooses to reveal the truth rather slowly so that it isn’t much of a shock and by the time the “cat is out of the bag” the pieces just don’t fall all that convincingly. It was as though i kept waiting for yet another twist that never came. And overall it just felt like when a producer of a really good tv show is told that their show is being cancelled at the last minute and they don’t have time to come up with a satisfying ending. So they come up with a rubbish ending that feels like a sentence without a period.

Formula driven author...?

Some nights I thought I enjoyed it...then I didn't. I loved that the chapters were super short...perfect for a drowsy bedtime read. It dragged on and on and on... and was predictable making the last several chapters unnecessary for me. I'll move on to another author....
