Description

"Simply amazing one of the best horror story's I have ever read. The characters well thought out and written, and the comedy is spot on. One of the best books I have have ever read and will keep rereading over and over again, don't second guess it just buy it."-Amazon.com Reviewer"The last time I laughed at a book this hard was when I read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in high school. And that was 30 years ago. Seriously. This book is absurd, silly, funny, and jaw-dropping. I cannot put it down. I had read some of the stories on CreepyPasta but the book is just plain awesome."-Amazon.com Reviewer"Love the original story, love the book even more, great for horror fans, minimum wage workers and tired millennials everywhere"-Amazon.com Reviewer

Features & Highlights

  • Drunk customers. Shoplifting raccoons. Otherworldly visitors. As night shift clerk at the twenty-four-hour gas station at the edge of town, Jack has pretty much seen it all. That is, until his best friend reveals the body of a local politician hidden in the trunk of a car, setting off a chain of events with apocalyptic potential. Soon, Jack finds himself entangled in a supernatural conspiracy involving monster hunters, sociopaths, doomsday cultists, and… garden gnomes?Armed with nothing but his wits, sarcasm, and alarming amounts of coffee, can Jack stay alive long enough to see another morning shift? Or will he, too, fall victim to the dark, ancient force infecting the dreams of everyone around him?One thing’s for sure. He’s not getting paid enough for this.

All Hail

I've re-read this twice now. Please Jack. Send us more.
The best written and most horrifying book in all the right ways. This is currently at the top of my most beloved books of all time - surpassing all other modern horror on the shelf (it's quite a large shelf, I'll have you know), and becoming my instant go-to recommendation for fright, comedy, and psychological thriller. Hell, I'll recommend it as a cookbook - just to make sure someone else suffers with me in my obsession with this too-close-for-comfort series.

Rural Horror/Comedy

I found this book (and series) on accident and I am so happy I did. By the time I finished the first book it had already become one of my favorite reads of all time. It's a great balance of creepy, hilarious, and morbid in the best and funniest ways. The characters are steller, and the story is incredibly fun and keeps the pages turning. In my opinion, all four books and the spin off are fantastic if you enjoy bizarre widwest Americana horror with well timed humor thrown in.

Amazing Read!

Firstly I'd like to say that I purchased this because I enjoyed the online posts that spawned this book. I've started reading a chapter a day to some friends that got interested in the book when I read them the Prologue. I appreciate the humor, mixed with intensity and darkness of the situations. It reminds me in some ways of John Dies at the End. I'm looking forward to more from this author. One last thing to remember, Don't touch the Gnomes with the green hats.

So good.

Jack Townsend has created something special with this series. It’s been awhile since I’ve read a series that I read through this quickly. I literally couldn’t put them down. Now that it’s over I’m overcome with the same feeling you get after Christmas, that something special has passed and you’ll have to wait a long time before it comes again. I think these might be my favorite books ever ( I want to say best books ever, but that’s extremely subjective). If you like horror comedy and weird characters that make you laugh do yourself a favor and give the tales from the gas station series a try. I think you’ll like them.

Humorous Horror

This series is such a perfect blend of dry reddit wit with Lovecraftian horror. The edge-of-your-seat moments are parried by tension breaking jokes. And the outlandishly comedic antics are tempered with an air of foreboding. Jack stares straight into the abyss and then accidentally sneezes in its face.

It's a great Book

This book is really amazing I like the author and the TFTGS series which is hilarious because of my main man Jerry/Marlboro. 10/10 plan on buying the second book later.

This is THEE story if you wanted something different and capable of holding your interest

This story, when I first came across it was by random recommendation on the internet and didn’t think much at first. At the time I was in high school and apathetic towards most thing and nothing really held my interest for long. That is until found this and the character’s described sounded relatable people instead of "Mary Sue" sort of characters and their viewpoints on things that were impossible brought a smile to me when I believed stories were so.... Repeatable. when I came across this story, it made me WANT more in a story and even before I found this as physical book I considered this a PRIME example of modern literature,
'Despite' what my literature teacher at the time claiming that something like this could never be considered "True" literature. So I say too that one person who by chance reading this, by chance never knowing this story beforehand and are looking for something to give you something to be interested in.
Buy this book. I can’t guarantee that you will love this story because everyone is different but I feel like you won’t regret the experience of this story and it characters and hopefully it will find a special place on your book collection or be an interesting read during a night shift and can hopefully catch and hold your attention.
As it did mine.

Great story!

I loved the creepypasta Tales from the Gas Station narrated by MrCreepyPasta and was so excited when I found out about the books. This first one was really great. A solid introduction to the narrator Jack and the cast of odd balls that frequent the gas station. The books go into so much more detail than the creepypasta posts.

FANTASTIC SERIES.....not the best binding though

I LOVE THIS STORY!!!! This is just a amazing/fantastic series that I have listened to many times and I just absolutely love it HOWEVER; both the 1st and 2nd volumes did lose multi. pages but as a very avid book reader/collector with many an older/well used books so I have proper book glue, but others may not so it's at least something to note.

But I CANNOT recommend the story enough and will still love my copies nonetheless!
