Splendor: A Luxe Novel (The Luxe)

I had found the first book to this series a month or so before I bought this one. when I ordered it I was worried that it would be damaged because I tried to go with best buy I could get. I was happy with the book and it had minimal damage. No complaints here! as for the story, I loved it and I more than Likely will read it again!

I have all the books in the Luxe series. I'm not one for history or books set back in the day. But these books are written in such a great way that it's interesting in how the characters are portrayed in the 19th and early 20th century. Through the lies, secrets, and scandals you just want to keep reading and reading!

I was looking forward to seeing all their problems solved as I had read two preceding novels of this series. Alas, not everyone had a happy ending. But before I got to the end it was still highly entertaining.

I had read The Luxe about a year ago, but I forgot to read the others, when I finally got around to it, I was not disappointed! At the start of the book it seemed like this book was just a long final chapter to the whole Luxe saga. It seemed like everything was falling into place with Henry and Diana, Penelope would finally quit with her scheming and let them be together. Lina would finally get Leland and although Elizabeth couldn't have Will, it seemed like she would do right by him and raise their child in a supportive home.

The author showed her skill by not letting the ending be what everyone thought it would be, she threw in some plot twists. I loved how Penelope fell in love with the Prince, and then she found out that he was just trying to seduce her and left her after a week with her. It was also interesting that Diana and Henry found each other but then were separated when they got back to New York, but still found ways to see each other. Surprisingly, they didn't end up together which in my opinion shows the authors skill by not just writing the easy ending. Carolina found her head in all of the craziness that she had wriggled her way into, and finally reunited with Claire. The ending for Elizabeth was the best though. Her child finally got a real home to grow up in, and she finally found some happiness after all of the bad luck that had come her way. A perfect ending for a great series.

The conclusion to this series was also not a let down. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this series and looked forward to each new installment. Maybe now I will be able to get some sleep. Too many late nights reading this amazing series by a young new author. Kudos to Anna Godberson.

I am not giving this book a bad review because of the story itself. I have not read it yet, but I am currently reading the book that comes before it, and I quite enjoy the series. My main complaint is Amazon. I bought the book new from Amazon (It was not from a seperate seller, and it was delivered with my other book that I ordered through the same way)and I was very disappointed when it came. My "new" book had spine damage, front cover wear, and there were sharpie markings on the side of the book. If you would like to recieve this book in good condition, I highly suggest you buy it from Barnes and Noble. I will never order books off of amazon again.

I bought this for a Christmas gift. I bought it for my niece and she had already read the other series.

An epic conclusion to a great series. The ending is so shocking. You have to read it to believe it.
