Description

The first book in a new series has to set the hook early and set it deep. Spider's Web does this effortlessly. By the end of page one, the reader knows that Mike Omer has all the tools a writer needs. By the time I'd read just two pages, I went back online and pre-ordered the second book in the series. And this is a genre I don't really read very much of. If you like James Patterson's Alex Cross, You're going to like this as well. - Wayne Stinnet, Author of thexa0Caribbean Adventure Series Omer does a wonderful job of creating a cop character that you want to understand and spend time with. Mitchell Lonnie is empathetic and compassionate, but also jaded and with a wry sense of humor. He's an interesting mix, and that keeps him fresh and compelling throughout the book. There are also some really cool secondary characters, primarily Rabbi Friedman, who add color and texture to the story without looking like a line-up of quirky characters designed to do that and only that. The crime and ensuing investigation are compelling, there's just enough dark humor for someone who likes a little funny with their grittiness, and the dialogue is spot on. I'm really looking forward to the second book. - Dawn McKenna, Author of xa0The Forgotten Coast Series Mike Omer is the author of the Glenmore Park Mystery Series. In the past, he's been a journalist, a game developer, and the CEO of the company Loadingames. He is married to a woman who diligently forces him to live his dream, and is the father of an angel, a pixie, and a gremlin. He has two voracious hounds that wag their tail quite menacingly at anyone who comes near his home.Mike loves to write about true-to-life people who are perpetrators or victims of crimes. He also likes writing funny stuff. He mixes these two loves quite passionately into his mystery books. You can contact Mike by sending him an e-mail to [email protected]

Just a Little More!

Spider’s Web by Mike Omer was a so-so mystery thriller. It was an interesting read – heavy on the police procedural with an okay plot. A host of characters are presented all at once and are hard to follow in the beginning. Once figured out though the characterization was well done. The sympathetic characters earned the readers’ sympathy while those not so put together came across as such. Most of the action was predictable and kind of ordinary. The book was readable but not so compelling. It earned a 3 from me.

LOVE THE READ BUT LOOSE PAGES

I like this writer, he is an easy read, with excitement. I will continue to get his titles. But, the book I am reading now Spider's Web: A Police Procedural (Glenmore Park) has pages falling out. It appears that the glue that holds the pages in place is not holding the pages in place. I normally give my books to friends and donate them to charities but with this issue I will not be able to.

A Compelling Read

The author does a first-rate job of blending a flawed protagonist with a host of colorful supporting characters. Added to this is a plot with numerous twists, a thoroughly deranged villain and a liberal dosage of dark humor. The result? A helluva good read.

Catch me if you can

It starts with a jogger, killed and buried in a shallow grave in a local park. Then, another woman is killed and there’s a hint that she received notice of her death just minutes before it occurred. Detective Mitchell Lonnie and his partner, Jacob Cooper soon realize that there’s a serial killer loose in their town, and his pace is accelerating. It becomes personal for Lonnie when his sister, a uniformed cop, becomes involved.
The action is nonstop and the drama is as tight as a well-tuned violin string in Mike Omer’s Spider’s Web as Lonnie and Cooper race against time to catch a methodical, determined killer who seems to get off on taunting them with his clues.
Despite a bit of head hopping among characters that can cause a little confusion, but only temporarily, this is a pretty good mystery story. I received a free review copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review.

Glenmore Police department is very cool

Ooooohhh I love me some detective crime mystery murder intrigue! I discovered this guy many years ago and thought to see what he has written since his first (fabulous) Zoe Bentley novel and wow! I found 5 novels and one novella. I have been tearing through these the past 2 weeks with joyful abandon. This Glenmore Park series deals a lot with the local police force's personalities but Zoe of course makes an appearance to help them profile the killer. This first book is about a serial killer and it was good. I recommend for all crime mystery fans.

There is a serial killer in Glenmore Park and they call him The Deadly Messenger.

“There was a serial killer in Glenmore Park.” And he sends his victims an image of the murder weapon, of the way they were about to die! And then, he snips a lock of their hair. They call him The Deadly Messenger.

A pretty good story, well paced and interesting. And Zoe Bentley is in this! (I've read the first two of 'her' books!) I like her character a lot! Detective Lonnie Mitchell, not so much. And I didn't really like any of the other law enforcement characters either. There also seemed to be too many of them! But, it is a decent thriller, and I'm definitely going to read book #2!
