Features & Highlights

  • You Sense Him
  • Some refer to it as the Colony. To others, it's a cult. But few locals in the Oregon coastal hamlet of Deception Bay have ever been invited to the inner sanctum of Siren Song. Even the sisters who live here, far from strangers who might recoil at their unnerving psychic abilities, don't know all the terrors buried within its walls. . .
  • You Fear Him
  • Eight months into a surrogate pregnancy for her sister, Kristina, Detective Savannah Dunbar just wants to wrap up paperwork before taking medical leave. But her department's investigation into a brutal double homicide has suddenly become much more complex--and personal. And now there are disturbing rumors about the Colony, its matriarch, and a long history of bitter secrets. . .
  • But You Can Never Stop Him
  • Death has come to Siren Song before. But this time there will be no refuge and no remorse. For everything born in wickedness must die that way--and a killer will not rest until he has claimed them all. . .

Something Wicked... ODD

Before I start this review, I want to state that I have not read any the first two books in this series. Because of that, I found this book to be really confusing. I think it would have been much better if I would have read the other two. I recommend starting this series with book one and reading them all in order.
Something Wicked is the story of a murderer on the loose and a very pregnant detective trying to solve the crime. It was an intriguing tale, fast paced, and kept me guessing until the very end.
Our heroine, (I guess that is what you would call her) Detective Savannah Dunbar was super human. Just wait to you read about the birth of her child and then you will understand just how superhuman she is! She was determined to find the murderer and nothing was going to stop her, including being pregnant and giving birth under horrendous conditions.
The woman of Siren Song... Well, the best word I kind come up with to describe them is ODD! Even so, their story did interest me. I would like to learn more about them.
The murderer was creepy. I know that is a not the best way to describe someone, but that is as good as I can get. Some of the things he did were chilling.
There were tons of twists and turns. It was full surprises. I was never quite sure what was going to happen. When I thought I knew what was coming, I was always wrong. All in all, it was an interesting book but a bit confusing.
Would I recommend this book? That's a tough question. I would if you read the other two books first.
This book was provided to me by Netgalley for an honest review.

A family with special abilities and a workaholic detective in the ninth month of a surrogate pregnancy.

Easy, flowing style. Interesting characters and scenarios. I read this book out of order in the series. It held together, made sense, the pages practically turned themselves. Most interesting, for me, was the sister surrogate and the building of forbidden attraction to the baby's father.

TOO MANY CHARACTERS & STORY WENT INTO TOO MANY DIRECTIONS.

Unfortunately, I had hoped that this book would have been a good read - it was not. Subjectively, I disagree with other readers that gave this book a five star rating. It did not take long for the story to run out of gas and I decided it was not worth completing the book.

The authors used too many characters, it my opinion, it made for an unpleasant read. Also, the authors diverted the story in many directions to the point I was just reading sentences and the story just fell apart. Could this be a problem with having "two authors?" Once a book does this, I choose to find another author that will entertain me with a great mystery.

In contrast, I started a great book "The Wrong Girl" by Hank Phillippi Ryan that is exciting, well written and most importantly...a great read.
