Author/Artist Karla Dornacher is passionate about sharing hope, encouragement and inspiration in everything she does. Karla is best known for her best-selling books, Love In Every Room and Down A Garden Path, as well as several other Christian Inspirational Gift and Devotional books of the same style. Karla, a mostly self-taught artist, drew as a young girl and wanted to be an artist when she grew up, but put away her art supplies when she got married, and instead, channeled her creativity into being a wife, mom, gardener and keeper of her home. Karla didn't paint her first picture until she was more than 40 years old and, being a story-teller at heart, says those early pen and ink and watercolor paintings offered the perfect way for her to creatively share the words of love, hope, and encouragement she is so passionate about. Karla launched her own home-party business in 1996 as an avenue to sell her art and share her heart with other women. In 1998 she met Marsha and Jack Countryman, Gift Book Publisher for Thomas Nelson at the time, who gave her the opportunity to write and illustrate 16 books which then opened the door to her art being licensed for numerous gift and home decor products including fabric, dinnerware, stationery and more. Today, her portfolio includes more of a whimsical style of mixed-media and acrylic paintings, as well as her contemporary pen and ink illustrations mixed in for good measure! Karla lives in Vancouver, WA with her husband of more than 40 years and can be found most weekends selling her faith-based art at the Portland Saturday Market in Portland, OR. In her free time she enjoys moments spent with family and friends and always learning something new!
