Description

Heather Linn never had any notion of reinventing the Vampire. Her real intention was to give them back their bite. "They are not our friends, they are not our lovers, they are the embodiment of evil, the monsters under your bed, the demon in the shadows. They don't want to be us, they want to eat us"

Features & Highlights

  • This is the first book of five in the Shattered Skies series. The current version has been re-edited in response to reader’s comments. Torn between the day and the night, Catalina treads a dangerous, deadly trail among the monsters; sex is her weapon. But what happens when her heart takes over and she falls in love with the head monster, the leader of a new breed of Vampire that is chillingly capable of killing her and the humans she loves? Courageous Catalina never had the chance to live in the normal world we take for granted. Instead she was born into a world ruled by the alien Vampires that have taken over the planet. Half the human race is dead, the survivors have been raped and pillaged, and the alien Vampire invaders have bred a nearly indestructible new race, the Dominus, a horrific genetic mix of human and vampire. Catalina and her small family of rogue humans have been led by a brooding Doctor since their infancy. So far, they have managed to live secretly among the new deadly breed of monster, killing when they can. Then Catalina, the black sheep of the family, rejects the subservient female role assigned her, and demands to be a warrior on the front lines with the men, bedding one Dominus after the next, in a world where sex kills. Hell bent on destroying as many of the Dominus as she can, Catalina is drawn to the bed of the King Dominus, Akia. Her emotions flare in his presence and she feels a strange, tumultuous, magnetic pull towards him and him to her, but this star-crossed attraction can only lead to death. But for whom?

Frustrating!

It is very rare that I find a book that I must force myself to finish. This is one of them. The concept is intriguing, but the delivery failed...miserably. The grammatical errors, inconsistent verb tense, juvenile dialogue, and constant repetition killed any enjoyment I might have gleaned from it.

Disappointing

The book was repetitive, and full of errors, both grammatical and with punctuality. There were decent parts, but overall, I was disappointed.

Absolutely amazing!

I had originally told the Author I would read the first few chapters of her book and give her feedback, and that I wasn't sure how long it would take me. Well, it took me like an hour, I was SO enthralled.. I couldn't stop reading, I was hooked and I had to have more so I went on Amazon and bought the Kindle version for my laptop. Best 3 dollars I have spent in my whole life. I have to say this book was Twilight good. I seriously have not been this encased in a book since Twilight! I literally read the book in less than a day. With that being said, I do think the book needs to be edited for errors and such but honestly, I could look past those any day because the book was just that good. SO creative and thought out, so different but not too far fetched. I just loved it. I can't wait for book two to come out. Way to go Author, you rocked it!

Shattered Skies: Beginning's End

I have always loved stories about vampires. This book had me drawn into it within the first few pages. The spin on a true horror theme set in the near future was a refreshing change. Seeing through the main character's eyes as things unfold, clinging to the words on each page, and despetately wanting the next page to engulf my thoughts completely was how I felt. This book's story gives so many emotions to feel! Eroticism, without going to the extreme. I am waiting to "sink my teeth" into volume 2. Guaranteed not to let me down...

Speedy read!

This was the fastest I have ever read a book, not being an avid fan of reading, it was finished in about 6 hours. I was asked if i would like to read it, and I am glad i did. Loved the steamy bits, forgot that it was a vampire/ human book in parts, but all in all an enjoyable read. A few typos and errors, but nothing that took away from the story. Bring it on Heather.
