Features & Highlights

  • Edward de Vere€™s life and letters indicate that he was the true author of the works of Shakespeare. Weaving together ten years of research, this biography of the adventurous Elizabethan earl is a triumph of literary detective work. This was a fascinating audio-book that completely convinced me that Edward de Vere had to have been the real Shakespeare and added so much to my understanding of his plays and his poetry. Other reviews have complimented the author who has helped to reveal the actor Shakespeare as a pretentious impostor; I would like to compliment the reader Simon Prebble who does a terrific job as well, deftly portraying the voices of the different authors and characters in the plays with great feeling and intelligence. I listened to this book during several long car-rides and it made the time fly by. Thank you, Mr. Anderson and Mr. Prebble, for your dedication, passion and skill in telling this fascinating 'whodunit'.
