Lots of suspenseful secrets!

First of all, I want to thank myself for paying for the entire purchase.

Anyway , this is a great novel worth the read. I enjoyed the search and seek of looking for someone who disappeared on the highway to Las Vegas. The geographical locations are spot on. The behaviors and emotional toll on family and friends is very realistic. And, all the results of various law enforcement procedurals kept me on edge to the very end.

Not very good.

Character development was stilted and any suspense was artificially manufactured. Perhaps the author was going for a true crime noir but he failed miserably.

This is a MUST read!

Truly amazing read, it read like a true crime story. (Which I love.) Recommend to true crime lovers, mystery lovers and anyone who likes a very well written suspense story. Had to read all in one setting as I couldn’t put it down. Highly recommend *****

Outstanding!

I absolutely love the authors books, having read all of them, but this one took my breath away. The pace of this story was so fast, with multiple suspects, diverging directions, and plot twists galore. I actually had suspicions of the perpetrator early on in the book but set them aside. My hat is off to you once more Mr. Mofina!

Way too convoluted for me....

I really wanted to like this book, but to me it was just one big confusing mess. I'm sure other readers will enjoy this because of that. Every chapter, some of which are extremely short hops back and forth between the protagonists, the kidnapped daughter, the cops, the FBI, etc., etc. It isn't just a simple story about the kidnapped girl, but every member of the family seems to have had problems in their lives which could have led to the kidnapping. More and more people are introduced into the story, and it becomes really difficult to tell everyone apart...and believe me I have multiple degrees in neuroscience, so I'm very aware of how to use my memory.

This took several weeks for me to finish...I usually read other books (nonfiction with one fiction book), and I just could not get into it. As I said before I really think other readers with less to do than I do, will probably enjoy it, and read it in one sitting, but it wasn't my cup of tea.

A school of red herrings

I have read quite a few of author Mofina's books and I usually really enjoy his twisty, turny thrillers. But, in this case, it was over the top. There were so many red herrings I thought I was looking at a revised recipe for cioppino.

There were just too many twists and turns dropped into the story that didn't lead anywhere. I wish some of that writing energy had been used in character development. I didn't feel particularly close to any of the characters in the story.

I liked the premise of the story and the locations involved, just not the execution. This one weaker story from Mofina will not keep me from reading Mofina's books in the future.

I received this book from MIRA Books through Edelweiss in the hopes that I would read it and leave an unbiased review.

Great author.

When I see Rick Mofina as the author I just buy. I've read a number of his and it's usually a newspaper reporter who's helping solve a crime. Not this time.
There's a lot of players and all have their secrets, so when John's daughter goes missing on a cross country RV family tour, it's all hands on deck.
Yeah, the cops do cop things, like trying to blame the parents to the exclusion of evidence, but they have to solve it too.
Little by little we find all the players are hiding something, even the other players don't know.
So, a good read, maybe 90% of a speedy Mofina offering, but still worthy.

Mystery of the missing.

This was a good story, however, too drawn out. The First half of the book was really boring. In the remainder of the book the mystery got more intense and succeeded in finally drawing me in.
