Rock-a-Bye Bones: A Sarah Booth Delaney Mystery

The book was a page turner, I'll give it that. It hooked me at first, and I was interested throughout in how everything was going to turn out. As it turned out, however, the ending was entirely predictable, and implausible at the same time. The writing style was cloying. The characters kept doing ill-advised things, and then they seemed amazed when things turned out badly. You live in a rural area. You know all about dirt roads. But, you take a rear wheel drive Caddy into a remote area, on a rutted dirt road, then figure out you don't have the right vehicle? The "second ending", which seemed tacked on, didn't seem to have any relation to how this character would otherwise act. In fact, in real life, this character would need extensive therapy, because in real life her actions would indicate serious mental illness. I didn't even mention the three guys that are pining for the main character, but everybody is a friend, no apparent jealousy, and all three are willing to wait for the main character to make up her mind. So yeah, I didn't like it. Luckily I borrowed it from the library, so no money out of my pocket.

This was a great book. Sarah Booth is a colorful character that always leaves me laughing.
This book was funny and heart felt. The mystery was good and I was kept guessing until the end.
Any book that takes place over a holiday is usually very good and this story was well told.
I like the interaction with Jitty and her love for Sarah Booth is genuine.

I will be recommending this book and the entire series to my book group.

If you have never read a Sarah Booth Delaney Mystery by Carolyn Haines then you have missed out. Her books are never a disappointment. I have read all of them and can not wait for the next one to be published. She is witty, very Southern, full of twists and turns, and always thrilling. Her characters have become part of my family and I can not wait to meet up with them. Really, read her books. You will be glad that you did!

Love this series of books.

Carolyn Haines has creates characters that I love, like, admire or detest. Sarah Booth and Tinkie are my "fictional sisters". I feel their pain, love, laughter and hopes. Both desire a baby. One literally drops in on Sarah Booth, along with a pool of blood. SB summons Tinkie to figure out what to do with the baby and find her mother. Add 3 men professing they want "more" and someone hunting Sarah Booth!

Conspiracies, emotions, regrets--- I was worried about my "sisters' until the end! Good job, Carolyn!

I love this book series, it's one of my favorites and whenever I see that a new book is going to be published I freak out! I love Sarah Booth as if she were one of my own friends and I always want to help her when she gets in her sticky situations. She's been through so much and I just love how she always manages to come out on the other side a little bit stronger than before. This book was full of surprises and I can honestly say that the ending was not what I was expecting! I would totally recommend this book and every single book in the series to anyone who enjoys a fantastic mystery!

This is the usual mix of Sarah Booth's love life and a mystery she needs to solve. A baby appears on her doorstep. Trying to find the mother of the baby is the mystery, wrapped around the fact that her resident haunt Jitty wants Sarah Booth to get busy and produce an heir. The story is set in rural areas northwestern Mississippi with a side trip to Nashville as part of the case. The case leads in some unexpected directions, and you meet people who are an assortment of the good, the bad, and the ugly. The long running issue of who hates Sarah Booth is still unresolved.

Sarah Booth hasn’t had time to begin to process her shattered engagement when she finds an infant on her doorstep and bloody footprints leading away. With Tinkie stepping in to care for the child (not the best idea in this case), Sarah Booth and Sheriff Coleman begin a desperate search for the baby’s mother.
This is a clever, fast-paced mystery featuring many of our favorite characters: Madame Tomeeka the pyschic, Cece (formerly Cecil) the ever-fashionable newspaper reporter, Harold, Scott and Coleman, Sarah Booth’s past loves, and of course, Sarah’s personal haint, Jitty. Who could ask for better friends to help solve the mystery, and to protect and love Sarah Booth? The evolution of these relationships is a key to the success of this series. This is Sarah’s family.
I chuckled at the Go Set a Watchman reference; made me feel like an insider! This is handsdown my all-time favorite mystery series. Pick this book up and you will be hooked on terrific writing and characters and heart. The connections are real, the action is intense, and you will definitely want more!

Have read all the Sarah Booth delaney books and this is right up top with the others. She can't write fast enough for me with these books. I love them all and could read over and over even when I'd know the outcome they are that enjoyable..love all Sarahs girlfriends and fellows and especially Jitty and CeCe.
