Description

Charlotte Abel was born and raised in Oklahoma where she met her soulmate, Pete. She chased him to Boulder, Colorado and finally convinced him they were meant to be together forever. They've raised three kids, two ferrets, three dogs and countless hamsters -- and are still happily married. She's in love with "real" life and paranormal romance. When she's not reading or writing, Charlotte enjoys hiking, bicycling and primitive archery (although she's never shot at anything other than a target!)

Features & Highlights

  • Jonathan McKnight lost everything in Afghanistan. His left hand, his identical twin, his self-respect and his naive belief that good always triumphs over evil. Burdened by grief and guilt, he searches for redemption on a solo backpacking trip into the remote Sawatch Mountains of Colorado and discovers a secret tribe of shifters. River, the beautiful young shifter that rescues Jonathan has been promised to a man she despises. A man that does not desire her and only wants to use her to achieve his own political goals. Jonathan is more than a romantic rival. He’s a threat to those goals. The only way to save Jonathan’s life is for River to take him as her recruit. As Jonathan learns more about the horrors of River’s cult-like society, he becomes even more determined to escape it, until he learns that River is responsible for everything he does and will be executed if he succeeds. Escape is not an option—unless Jonathan can persuade River to leave with him. And if she refuses? Well, then, he’ll just have to kidnap her.

Best book I have read since the twilight saga!

I am dying here, seriously! That ending killed me, we need that second book like yesterday. I have experienced so many emotions reading this. The characters and plot are fantastic. Had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. I take ambien to sleep, and I always stop reading once my eyes get heavy. It was a challenge, but I powered through trying not to fall asleep to an ending that made me want to pull my hair out since the second book isn't out yet! A little dramatic, I know. Please hurry with the second book. Jonathan needs to get back in to save everyone!!!!!

Addicting read but a cliffhanger and book 2 isn't out yet!

The beginning started off a bit rocky with 2 characters that seemed to have nothing in common. But you soon are drawn in and totally unable to put the book down. I loved the amount of romance, action and how the characters built together. Kind of a mormon influence as well in the book and references. Not usually my cup of tea but I loved the book regardless. I was devastated to get to the end of the book, a cliffhanger and realize the next book River's Remorse wasn't out yet.

Unbelievable

I don't read romance novels. I downloaded this because it did sound interesting and was captivated from the beginning. River has the right amount of guts, yet still remains feminine. Johnathan can be a little hard headed but still believable in a totally foreign environment. I do wish that the rest of the series was available before the first one was put on pixel of ink.
