Mind-numbingly boring

The premise of this book sounded interesting, but the execution of it was so disappointing. I kept reading and reading, waiting for something to happen, and it never did. The main character allows a whole host of strangers into her house to care for her children, which I found very odd. The conversations between characters are confused and make little sense. And throughout the whole book the author was banging on about Jesus so much, I couldn't tell if it was a novel or a religious tract. "Poofs" and "Nighters"? Just annoying.

Loved it!

I've read so many of Mrs. Havig's books, but this book (and the two following in the series) are my favorites! I ADORE the characters and love the interaction between Aggie and all her kids. Mrs. Havig does such a wonderful job painting a picture that it's hard to believe these are fictional characters. Reading through these books is a total escape into another world...but it could easily be this one. I can't say enough about Ready or Not, and the other books in the series!

Loved It!

Meeting Aggie was like hanging out with an old friend. In fact, she reminded me of myself many times! Aggie is a very real person - both believable and relatable. She had enough negative qualities to seem true to life but enough positive attributes that she was someone you'd want to know. The children in this story are all precious and I fell in love with each of them, as Aggie did. I even picked up a few great mothering tips from this beauty! In this book, you will laugh and cry with her and her family, and feel every emotion in between. The love of Christ is evident, yet not preachy or smothering. The perfect balance for a work of Christian fiction. I am very anxious to read the continuing story! I'm hooked!

Loved it! Was a pleasant surprise.

The story sounded great, but the spiritual factors didn't completely excite me but I decided I'd give it a shot. Boy am I glad I did. The writing was precise and readable. The characters were very well developed. The spiritual aspects were mild yet powerful if that is your thing so they didn't bother me at all. I actually felt fear every time the grandmother showed up because as a mom I am always terrified of doing something wrong or loosing my children. In a story about a strong family I look for great character development and a great story to go along with it and I was not disappointed with this one.
