Nothing, except one of the largest diamond hauls ever - which, in the wrong hands, on the wrong side of the Iron Curtain, was a potentially lethal force. In a small village in the Swiss mountains, Denning discovered that there was not only a jewellery robbery at stake. Great Writer

Helen MacInnes writes great books. Have complete collection of her books in paperback but was wanting to get the digital ones for my Kindle. Am so glad they have finally digitized them! Her books are a realistic glimpse into the life of those undercover agents who fight unknown and unrewarded to guard the freedom we accept as our given right. Or the underground fight during WWII in Europe often with amateurs walking the tightrope of an innocent abroad while helping those who worked to see the Allies won the war.

Helen MacInnes on Kindle Finally

So glad to see one of my favorite authors of all time now available on Kindle. "Pray for a Brave Heart" was one of the few MacInnes books I had not read and I was enthralled from start to finish. Her combination of mystery, intelligence officers and of course a little romance thrown in made this a great book to read.

Once you read one of Helen Macinnes you will want them all!

I have always loved Helen Macinnes. It is so great to have her books on kindle now! Now I can travel and I don't have to worry about damaging a hard back book that is out of print and irreplaceable!
This novel is so good you forget it is set right after world war 2 the characters are believable and She writes so real, you will be worrying about them;their suspense is your suspense
The action seems real, and the book somehow seems completely modern and up to date still! Highly recommend!

Nostalgic Read

I remember reading everything Helen MacInnes wrote when I was a lot younger than I am now and relishing every novel. When I noticed "Pray For A Brave Heart" was available on Kindle, I couldn't resist. Reread it after these many years and enjoyed it just as much as the first read. She writes a really good story about espionage and folds it into just enough description about where the story takes place and gives enough insight to the characters to make you care about them. Yes, this story has to do with the days when we worried about Russia and Communists and it's just after The War, when Nazi looters are trying to keep their ill-gotten gains or at least sell them for a great amount of money and when freedom for Russian citizens was unheard of and escape was a dangerous game.

Thank you, Amazon, for bringing back the work of this author. She was one of the best (and personally, I think many of today's novelists could learn a thing or two from her).

It's MacInnes!

I have some of her books. They are set in the 30's & 40's. The morality and characters are timeless. The books are like reading what is wrong in our society today! Different enemy maybe but the same battle against people who would try to destroy democracy and a free people. They keep you reading with the well written characters and plots!

A lost art

Ms Macinnes writes of WWII and the cold war souvenirs, concentrating on the political and ideological aspects, usually incorporating a wee bit of romance.

MacInnes fan

I started reading Helen MacInnes when I was twelve years old, during the Cold War. This is not one of my favorites, but I still enjoy her quick writing style and am glad that her books are now available on Kindle.

toooooooo Slow, and i don't know what happened.

I am not sure why the story turned so plodding at the one third of the way thur the book. For the rarest of situations, I BROUGHT a new book just to give me a reason to stop reading. Maybe there was a good story in there, somewhere and I was unable to find it.

Don't quit reading!

"Pray for a Brave Heart" started in a somewhat confusing way for me. There were several sets of character and story lines. However, all paths met about half-way through the book and I was able to keep characters and motives straight. The plot advanced quickly and ended satisfactorily. I highly recommend this story about post-World War II Europe and spies in the Cold War.
