Description

Catherine Hapka is the author of many books for children of all ages. She is too tall to ride ponies, though her mare, Gerri, still looks like one. Catherine takes riding lessons twice a week and lives on a farm with Gerri, three goats, a small flock of chickens, and too many cats. Anne Kennedy lives in Lewis Center, Ohio, with her husband, Jack, and her rescued dog, Banjo. When she's not illustrating beautiful books, Anne enjoys spending time with her horse, doing dressage, and trail riding.

Why is Rosy Pretty...Fat?

My little kindergarten girl got into this book, even though she isn't what most would call a horse enthusiast. She loves all animals, though she isn't insisting on us getting her a horse...yet. (Or maybe she just hasn't thought of it...yet). I think it was the scouting idea that attracted her to this book, since this is her first year in Girl Scouts, as a Daisy. "Really Riding" is an "I Can Read!" book, and that's the main reason I checked it out at our local library. The scout characters were a plus, but I was mainly looking for books that my daughter can read on her own (or at least read along with me). This is a good book to choose. It's considered a book from the "high interest stories for developing readers". Its target audience is 4 to 8 year olds. The print is fairly large, and there are lots of captavating illustrations to keep your readers' interests.

color:black">The main character lives on a pony farm, and two of her friends were going to have their very first riding lesson while they stayed over at her house. You can find out how well their lessons went by reading this book. My favorite part was when the girls discovered why Rosy was pretty...fat! You'll have to find out for yourself. It will be an absolutely wonderful surprise!
