Description

A Kings River Life Magazine Favorite book of 2019! "Police offer, K-9 partner, and poacher have complex inner worlds in this tale. Well, police officer and poacher do."― Kirkus "A complete winner . . . While part of a series, this cozy can be read as a stand-alone and will be appreciated by animal lovers. Recommended for readers of Spencer Quinn's "Chet and Bernie" books."― Library Journal "Irresistibly unput-downable with its trademark complex plots and crazy characters. Paw of the Jungle is simply the best, paws down!"―Romance Junkies"[ Paw of the Jungle has] the wry commentary sure to bring a smile to any dog owner's face. The extensive background of the zoo, the illicit trading of exotic animals, and the hunting ranches in Texas bring to mind Carl Hiaasen's novels based in the Everglades."― Booklist Diane Kelly is a former state assistant attorney general and tax advisor who spent much of her career fighting, or inadvertently working for, white-collar criminals. She is also a proud graduate of the Mansfield, Texas Citizens Police Academy. The first book in Diane’s IRS Special Agent Tara Holloway series, Death, Taxes, and a French Manicure , received a Romance Writers of America Golden Heart Award. Book #2, Death, Taxes, and a Skinny No-Whip Latte , won a Reviewers Choice award. Diane has combined her fascination with law enforcement and her love of animals in her K-9 cop Paw Enforcement series.

Features & Highlights

  • Police officer Megan Luz and her K-9 partner in crime, Brigit, are on all fours as they try to solve their latest Lone Star mystery.
  • AT THE ZOO
  • The weather is beautiful, work is slow, and her canine colleague could use a walk. What better day for Megan to take Brigit to the Fort Worth Zoo, where they can let loose and witness the law and order of nature unfold? But what begins as a fun field trip turns serious when a pair of rare hyacinth macaws named Fabiana and Fernando goes missing. Is the new custodian, a gentle soul who happens to be an ex-convict, to blame? Or is something far more sinister afoot?
  • AND ON THE HUNT
  • The birds are worth thousands of dollars, and the list of people on the premises who might have stolen them is long. Soon other animals start disappearing. . .and Megan and Brigit have their hands and paws full of suspects. But when a rare black rhino is taken from the zoo, presumably for its black-market-friendly horn, time is of the essence. Can Megan and Brigit find out who’s behind the mystery―before they too become prey?
  • “Funny and acerbic… perfect for lovers of Janet Evanovich.” ―

Good entry into the series.

Diane Kelly's Paw Enforcement series is terrific. Megan and Brigit are hilarious in this one, and also diligent on the case. I've never been a fan, however, of Seth, Megan's boyfriend. There's something not quite true about him, and that interferes with my overall enjoyment of the novel. What upset me the most was the (spoiler alert!) killing of one of the zoo animals, and graphic descriptions. See and hear enough of that in real life; I look to reading as an escape. However, Ms. Kelly is a terrific writer. Look forward to the next book in the series!

Paw of the Jungle- Brigit's latest K-9 enforcement for Fort Worth.

I just received my most recent installment of K-9 Brigit's 7th novel, Paw of the Jungle. Megan Luz and her K-9 partner in crime, Brigit solve the latest crimes in Fort Worth. The Fort Worth Zoo is missing it's two rare hyacinth macaws, worth thousands of dollars, and the list of people who might of stolen them is quite long. Before long other animals begin disappearing, before long Megan and Brigit have their hands and paws full of suspects.

Disappointed

The writing was good, but the author gave way too many extraneous details for me. The book was 357 pages long and would been much better if 60 pages shorter. I liked Officer Luz and Brigi, her K-9 partner.

A fun sleuth and a great crime fighting duo

This is the 8th in series. I have read many of the series and always enjoy this series and the fun duo of police dog and officer. Thank you for the ARC. My review opinions are my own. This book can be read as a stand alone.

Megan and Brigit have two new cases to solve in Fort Worth, Texas. Someone is stealing animals from the local zoo.! At the same time jewelry is being stolen and they have to solve that case as well. I loved the setting of the zoo and the descriptions of their efforts on behalf of the Zoo animals and bringing them back to safety. The jewelry theft was a secondary sleuth that added to the plot . It was fun to have multiple plots and sleuths to figure out as a reader.

This is a fun read with a great police dog and his trusty sidekick as a smart savvy sleuth who always solves her cases no matter if they are human or animal. There is a bit of a romance in this one which I do not usually like in my cozies but it was not overdone and fit the story without taking over . I loved the well crafted fun sleuth that had many twist and turns for the reader. I look forward to the next in series.
