On the Day You Were Born Board Book

I was excited this came in a board book. We were able to write a heartfelt message to a dear friend and her new baby from our family. This was one of my 14-year-old’s greatest stories and books as a child. It’s a beautiful lulling comforting book that honors the uniqueness and significance of a life coming to earth.

Just appalling. This kind of thing exists entirely for aspirational parents who think they have the right values, rather than for children. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the pictures are without any of the qualities that tend to appeal to the age of the intended readership: plain, though pretty enough, collage versions of those corporate inspirational posters that you can buy in Skymall. The text is the worst kind of glib new-age nonsense, with no narrative, no feel for the texture of language that a child might enjoy, and a vague atmosphere of global corporatized awe with the grating style of an airport advertisement. A cynical neoliberal book, which co-opts the general good vibes of western parents for a drab bit of coffee-table child-hostile gesture politics. Horrible.

I give this to everyone when they have their first baby.........it is so beautiful........from the words to the illustrations. It's my favorite.

This is my favorite gift that I received for baby shower. I cry every time I read it. The binding is splitting but that may indicate love rather than quality.
FYI. Some board book are shorter versions of the full book. I own the hard cover book and bought the board book to give to a friend. I compared the two, page by page. This board book is unabridged and contains all the text and illustrations of the original book.

Most beautiful story that describes how the child was celebrated by every facet of the nature on earth! Makes me cry every time. I had this when my now adult kids were little, and bought several more to give as gifts to new babies as they are born into my family and circle of friends. Love the boardbook option. Very sturdy. Will make any child beam with joy, and feel so special and bonded with all Beings. Love, love LOVE this book!

I have loved this book for years. It is beautiful and expresses how one feels when a baby is born. I bought one when my first grandchild was born and recorded every grandchild after that. Also I recorded when it was read to my great grandsons. It is my gift to every first baby in the family. The last one I gave to my great great nephew.

Perfect to welcome a new baby. Meaningful and beautiful words and pictures. Reminds everyone that every baby is a unique gift. My favorite pages include the waves washing the sand clean to be ready for your footsteps.

If i could give it zero stars i would. Horrible book. Weird and not child friendly.

I was disappointed to see the pages of the board book I purchased were deformed. As you can see in the photos, the book doesn't lie flat because of the curved pages. This is not the quality I expected for a brand new book, and I would not have purchased this item had I seen the condition of the book beforehand. I plan to return the item and find another copy in a local bookstore.

Someone bought this book for my newborn many years ago. I read it for years. Now anytime anyone had a baby I buy this book for them. It's such a great story and reminds me how amazing our world is! This book will always hold a special place in my heart
