Description

"Every page has at least one gut buster, lines so ripe you’ll want to recycle them at the next cocktail party." - Jon David Kahn, Breitbart.com “Not Cool is a wonderful book, but it is also something more. Now that it has joined Gutfeld’s earlier bestseller, The Joy of Hate , a longstanding problem of American writing has sorted itself out….Our only bona fide misanthrope was Ambrose Bierce, and Greg Gutfeld is his heir.” —Florence King, National Review “Read Greg Gutfeld’s new book to vanquish the uncool “cool,” and with it save the country, while laughing, crying and cursing the whole way through.” – Benjamin Weingarten, The Blaze Greg Gutfeld is a cohost of the hit show The Five and the host of Red Eye on the Fox News Channel. He is the author of The Bible of Unspeakable Truths and the New York Times bestseller The Joy of Hate , and he contributes regularly to Breitbart.com.

Features & Highlights

  • Behind every awful, dangerous decision lurks one evil beast: the Cool.
  • From politics to the personal, from fashion to food, from the campus to the locker room, the desire to be cool has infected  all aspects of our lives. At its most harmless, it is annoying. At its worst, it is deadly, on a massive scale.  The Cool are the termites of life, infiltrating every nook and cranny and destroying it from within. The Cool report the news, write the scripts, teach our children, run our government—and each day they pass judgment on those who don’t worship at the altar of their coolness.  The cool fawn over terrorists, mock the military, and denigrate employers. They are, in short, awful people. From what we wear and what we eat, to what we smoke and who we poke, pop culture is crafted and manipulated by the cool and, to Greg Gutfeld, that's Not Cool. How do the cool enslave you? By convincing you that: - If you don't agree with them no one will like you. - If you don't follow them you will miss out on life. - If you don't listen to them you will die a lonely loserHow do you vanquish the cool and discover your own true self? Read this book.    In

Clever!

Greg Gutfeld's latest book is just as funny as "THE JOY OF HATE" was. Here, "The Five's" Libertarian cohost explores how the "cool" crowd (hint, in this case, the "cool" crowd would prefer to always see themselves as "tolerant; me, I call them "Liberal if I'm feeling generous) constantly seeks to tear down anyone who dares to disagree with them. Anyway, Greg Gutfeld has the uncanny ability to explore this concept through humor.

Don't put another dime in this clown's purse

I wonder sometimes what the average conservative thinks about people like Gutfeld whose sole aim and source of considerable income is vitriolic assault on those who have a different take on life than he does. A Breitbart columnist and anti-progressive warrior, he has no problem quoting Breitbart's praise of his book as if it's even remotely objective. So much for ethics. He knows you don't care about ethics.

One of Fox News' snide and deeply off-base commentators, he here repeats the wholly unsubstantiated claims he and his cohort employ to convince anyone with a gripe and appetite for unexamined blame that they are the saviors of all that is holy to them.

I am so sick of this festival of finger-pointing, made-up facts (surely you have read of the Alabama counties whose voters exceed their populations -- an absolute lie that is nevertheless quite popular on conservative "thought" circuits) and have decided to peruse this load of hysterical rot so well represented here and suggest that readers fact-check every claim presented by Gutfeld and his talk-a-likes on "Red State," "Jihad Watch," "Barracuda Brigade" and "Angry White Dude."

Please note that NO ONE reviews his books except the conservative outlets he works for because no one really cares what he thinks. He's still poking sticks in Angela Davis' face and slamming any plan to monitor e-sigs with the clever quip, "When an industry arrives for the making, government arrives for taking." That doesn't even make sense. Also, if the government wanted to "take," it would tax them into oblivion, not raise questions about their effect on public health.

His blather really can't be tested against fact because it's all over the place -- diving down your shorts one minute, attacking Robert Redford the next, slithering up one side of what he thinks liberals are and down the other side of what he assumes progressives represent. ha-ha-ha. So fluffy, so light, so meaningless.

He's like the right wing Barbara Cartland: completely made up and incessantly humming the same melodramatic tune while claiming to sell more books than remotely possible.

Check out his broadly painted (and so not specific) allegations. You will be horrified and will have to ask yourself why these true believers find it necessary to make up their arguments out of the whole cloth so often, then smear them in your face as if the very act of aggressive stupidity makes them right. Oh, pardon me, perhaps that is exactly what makes them 'right.'

Christ, he even had to apologize to the Canadian Minister of Defense for his inanity.

Of course, he is not alone. Remember the insane "facts" promulgated by Crazy Michele Bachmann, or the emphasis on ha-ha sweetiness stuffed into the grinning nastiness of the ever-imploding but ever-self-promoting quasi-"governor" Sarah Palin? Look at (still online!!) Karl Rove's hubristic and nutty performance on Gutfeld's own Fox News on election night 2012. If the facts don't give you what you want, deny them, create new "facts", slam the science that gave you these unacceptable facts, join the wild and wooly right wing that wants to graze on public land without paying a fee and shoot you in the face if you raise an alarm. Hey, if this land is your land and my land, isn't that our land rights they're violating? Call on Jesus to come down and smite everyone to the left of Antonin Scalia. Just do, it, my tea party buds, just do it. Grow a brain later.

The fact that Gutfeld has a publisher at all, although it is one of those narrowly read "conservative imprints," attests to the corporate urge to make a buck even from deceit and nonsense. Don't put another dime in this clown's purse.

Gutfeld -- Not Cool

Obviously. The book is just the typical yap-yap from any Fox News Personality. Anything that is old-timey and conformist is good, anything that isn't is bad. I suspect Gutfeld actually thinks he is cool and he certainly tries to come across as cool. He chronicles the resentments of the O'Reillys, the Hannitys, the Limbaughs and the Levins as competently as anyone else I suppose. In the end, so what?

How do his fans not realize he's making fun of them and taking their money?

He literally wrote a book called "How to Triumph over Whiners in the Age of PHONY OUTRAGE" in which he's talking about how "the left" has "manufactured outrage of an oversensitive, wussified culture" and you guys are so silly you don't see the blindingly obvious prank he's pulling on all of you with this hypocrisy. That the SAME PERSON who said our society is oversensitive then writes a book about how hipsters make it cool to fawn over terrorists, mock the military, and denigrate employers. They are, in short, awful people." How do none of you get it, this book is a punchline and YOU'RE THE JOKE!

I can't believe people fall for this stuff, I mean it's hard to take any of you as serious intelligent sentient beings, Greg I can understand, he's at least making money off you people.

A book about a hipster war on you from a guy who wrote "Whiners in the Age of Phony Outrage"

DOUCHEBAG

This is an exho of the fox news noise machine....it tells the suckers just what they want to here so they can vote against their own interests and ruin the country. I wouldn't give this guy 10 cents or 10 seconds.

If you like this kind of crap

This book was given to me as a birthday gift. I didn't know at the time that Gutfeld was part of the Fox fake news family. As soon as I looked it over, I knew this was a gag gift. This is another book by a right wing extremist blowing his vitriol. Why does he put his mug on the cover? If you like this kind of crap, go ahead and buy it. The guy's just a jag-off making big bucks by being a jerk.

Minus Five Stars!

Three chapters, notably “The Cool’s War on Warmth”, “Pure Idiocy” & “The Deadly Do-Rights” are beyond creepy in their shear inanity. I expect Jon Stewart to have a field day. I don’t have the stamina to read other chapters. Just wanted to focus on the ones targeting environmentalists. Simply holding the book turns my stomach, how an author could be so narrowly focused on his own limited understanding of anything living is beyond me. The dude is amoebic. 149 Five Stars on Amazon, only shows that the rest of Americans heralding this pathetic excuse of an antipathic human is leading our country straight into the cauldrons of hell.

Another Fairy Tale Opin From The Right

Affiliated With Faux Newz. Your Honor " I Rest My Case". I began to experience these horrible thoughts about why a person like this would write something this awful, pointless I thought: " this guy just keeps putting out unsubstantiated mung." Everything is opinion. I thought I cannot stand this person and the way he thinks and dispenses this rubbish........The whole world is making mistakes and he wants it back the way it was. What a loser and I feel vindicated with my checking this title out of the LA County On- line library without any reviews beforehand." Oh those majority guys who elected Obama", "Oh those people who rejected Gutfeld and his thinking, so many years ago and he still feels the same way as he did in 5th grade." "Oh that great John McWrong should have been elected...... Blah Blah Blah. Thank You for saving me the wasted money. Hit 'RETURN BOOK NOW". To each his own.

Disappointing

I consider myself a conservative (check my other reviews if you don't believe me), but this book was a major disappointment, filled with vulgar and snarky witticisms that did not elicit a single laugh on my part. I give the book two stars instead one only because Gutfeld DOES have a point in this book - unmasking the crude, hypocritical, pseudo-hipness of the Left - but he consistently undermines his argument by sounding way too much like the very people he is criticizing. This book will appeal to the choir, but will do little to convince the unconvinced.

Repetitive with serious judgement errors

Entertaining read, but was somewhat repetitive after a while. He made his point effectively halfway through the book. However, the book was ruined for me by some of his choices in the final "who is really cool" chapter. After many times of Greg declaring that he is a libertarian, he chooses John Yoo as one of the "real cool people". Unfortunately, had John Yoo been born 60 years earlier, he would have served as Heinrich Himmler's assistant. There are very few people in the US today who have done more than John Yoo to supply the pseudo-intellectual support for the "we have to sacrifice our liberty and rights to maintain security" crowd.

John Yoo is a disgusting human being who represents everything that this country was founded to prevent. Shame on Gutfeld for his twisted reasoning that could presume John Yoo to be something other than the nauseating monster he really is.

I have already thrown away the book.
