Features & Highlights

  • Just another week in the life of geek girl Lexi Carmichael
  • Italy might seem like a long way to go to hide after a disastrous date. But when sexy Ÿberhacker Slash (no, that’s not his real name) asks me to go with him to Rome on an investigation, the timing is sort of perfect. My messed-up love life becomes the least of my worries, though, after the dead body, the near kidnapping and the discovery of a top secret encrypted file that even I can’t hack. With time running out, there’s only one thing to do: call in the legendary Zimmerman twins and my best fluent-in-Italian friend, Basia, to crack the code. Now if only someone could help me solve the mystery of whether Slash is flirting, or if all the kissing is just one of those “when in Rome” things…But when we finally uncover the secret someone would kill to keep, it’s up to me to solve the case and save the lives of my best friends. This book is approximately 61,000 words

Modesty Blaise in a dork suit

I love this entire series. Lots of action, lots of humor (the computer-geek heroine can damage you by accident), heart in the right place. Exotic locales, a young (twenty-something) heroine with brains and courage and no clue about romance (but that's OK, she's learning).

Fabulous and funny espionage geek thriller

Okay, I read the three YA White Knight books by Ms. Moffett. Adored all of them. Was leery that the Lexi Carmichael series might not be as enjoyable. So happy to be wrong!
Lexi is a genius geek, but without social skills -- even at 25. She's thrown into a computer driven mystery in Rome -- accompanied by the sexy, mysterious (and confounding!) Slash. Things go from puzzling to non-stop thriller. Absolutely loved this book. Lexi gets into belly laugh situations along with the edge-of-the-seat suspense.
Want to order more in the series (do have the next one here to read), but they're either on Kindle (which I can't read), or the hard copy is over-priced for me. Hope that will change in the near future. Ms. Moffett is a wonderful writer. Highly recommended!

#3 in series picks up where #2 left off.

Lexi is mortified about how she met Finn's family & is embarrassed to face them. Finn takes on a new case from none other than Slash. His uncle has been accused of a theft from the vatican bank so he's hiring X corp to investigate. Lexi is assigned the case to go to Rome with Slash. Confused & socially awkward, Lexi is juggling her feelings for Finn and Slash while hacking into the banks to find the real culprit of the theft. Attempted murder, several mishaps, & a 5oo year mystery all play into the Rome adventure. Lexi and Slash, along with Tito, Basia, & the Zimmerman twins race to uncover the theft, murderer, and secret hidden in the code to clear Slash's uncle's name.
