Absolutely Great Beginners Workbook

I'm a middle school art teachers and I know the basics of watercolor, but this book contains more than the basics. I recommend this Great book for those who are afraid to try watercolor, because the author will help you let go of any "perfectionist" ideas about watercolor and just get you painting. Lots of information on what materials to buy and use. Also, 6+ projects and drawings to copy and paint from. She has her own style that you may or may not like, but it is easy enough to find your own style. We used her "blow away" (also known as pool of paint) technique in conjunction with an "I am poem" (fro TpT...Teachers pay Teachers website) and made some fantastic art pieces very quickly.

Great book for learning watercolors!

Best book for beginners learning to watercolor. I liked the examples a lot, and of course the front cover! Some people complained that it wasn't spiral bound since the picture kind of looks like it might be. Doesn't detract from the content of the book! Love this book!!!!

Not what I thought it was going to be

I thought this was going to be a sketchbook with exercises on one side and blank spaces on the other where you could practice. Turns out it was just a watercolor instructional book (ex. try to do this). Its a good book but that is not what I was hoping it would be. The rings on the left side are fake.

Broken down into individual steps

I bought this because I have Gina's Not Excuses Journaling book and love it. I am somehow motivated by her approach. The layout is very helpful for someone who doesn't have a lot of confidence. It's broken down into the individual steps and makes it seem less intimidating.

For non-artists

I didn't find this all that helpful. I think it's not for artists of any level, but people who want to explore a bit.
