A wonderful life/love story
I jumped right into My Skylar without reading the other two books and so glad I did. I absolutely LOVED this story! I love the stories told from childhood into adulthood. Skylar and Mitch captured my heart when they were 5 years old and I cheered for them until the end.
There are not many books that a simple sentence or paragraph can bring tears to my eyes. Penelope has a way with words that just capture your heart and makes you feel what her characters are experiencing. My Skylar is a definite top read of 2014 and book that I will read over again. And I will also check out the other books in the series.

because I really enjoy the writing and how the story goes but hate ...
I have love-hate feeling when it comes to this series.
I keep reading the, because I really enjoy the writing and how the story goes but hate the twists and storyline. And this one is actually quite depressing and full of angst with how things are going. I was quite frustrated 3/4 to the book. I want to like it so bad but at the same time feeling so much anger to whatever happened.
The heroine come out so strong and blunt and over time she somehow turned into every other whiny and weak heroine out there. And what I can't stand the most is wishy washy and cheating.
And so far.. Now that I have read all three books, that played a factor to the story. It's sad to see that it has to be injected to the story for drama sake. Because if there's an actual message to it and why it has to happened in all 3 stories I didn't get it. If anything it just shows a weak character and ruin a good rating I had in mind before it happened.
Yeah.. 3 stars. I'd still recommend this if you like angst and drama in a story. But personally, I didn't like it.
3 stars for Seamus and the witty banters.
Wow! I absolutely loved this book and couldn't put it down.
This is a beautifully written book that was full of such intensity and emotion on nearly every page.
Mitch and Skylar are two gorgeous souls who are destined to be together from the moment they lay eyes on each other.
This is a beautifully written, emotional and passionate book that had me hooked from the very first page.
This is a roller coaster of a read that really deserves to be read.
Highly recommended!

Love always wins
Another beautiful story by Penelope Ward. Even though it was one of her earlier books,I saved this one for last. A beautiful, heart wrenching story about young love, real life challenges, and just trusting yourself and the love in your heart. I loved Skylar's strength and her feistiness. Mitch, was just a dream man. He loved hard and had the patience of gold. This book gave me every emotion and took me once again on that roller coaster ride, but you just enjoy every bit of it along the way. Penelope is a genius at her craft, and never lets you down with her unique story telling. A definite must read and re read!!! Just know "if you fear losing someone, it is love!!".. And love conquers all!!

S&M to be continued....
Dad gumit, she made me cry again. I loved this book. It made you laugh, cry, smile, and have all those emotions you have when you REALLY find a book boyfriend attractive. Smiles. What a story. This was a story about Mitch, who years earlier as a young boy moved in across the street from Skyler with his grandmother for a summer when they were children, became her best friend, and the love of her life. Mitch who came from a troubled background had no idea when he moved in that Skyler would become his everything. The story takes you through their childhood, teen years, college, and adulthood. The traumatic times in their lives, and heartaches they endure, would truly prove that fate exist and true love does win in the end. No matter what life would throw in their path the story Mitch began at 11 years of age S&M... To Be Continued.... Gave new meaning to what was to follow in the rest of Mitch and Skyler's lives. I highly recommend this book. Once again Penelope has hit it out of the park.

Penelope Ward made me an addict, impatiently waiting for her next fix
So I’ve had My Skylar by Penelope Ward on my Kindle for months and while I was browsing around my unread e-books, I came across it and decided to finally start it and OMG I ABSOLUTELY LOOOOOOVED it!!! And I don’t know whether to barrage myself for waiting so long or to be thankful that I kept such a gem waiting for me. Whichever, I am over the moon thrilled that I got to experience such a fateful love story between two incredibly stunning characters.
Like Mitch Nichols, I too feel in love with Skylar Seymour from the very moment she came running into his life with those adorable pigtails. I knew there was something so special about her just from the way she needed to make Mitch feel better without even knowing who he really was and what he was really about. She felt a sense of foreboding, like he was meant to be a part of her life and boy, did she hit that one right on the head. Skylar was inspirationally brave during so many moments in this book. Her journey alone is arduous and I felt as emotional as the people around her when she goes through something so terrifying and life altering. I loved that the author showed such a vulnerable side to her without breaking down her character to ruins. She persevered and she did it with such grace and poise. I think I’d fallen in love with her even more then. There is no better book than having an equally strong hero to go hand in hand with his heroine. Mitch Nichols definitely held up to this. He made my skin tingle, made my heart beat like crazy, and I pretty much lost all sense of sanity around him; I’m sure very much like Skylar did. The way he loved her for those many years made me yearn for the very same thing.
Their journey is long and many times painful but beyond that, it was exquisitely worthwhile. I don’t know how to quite express it but I felt such a connection with their story even though it held no semblance to anything I’d gone through in my personal life. I honestly believe it was all in how Penelope delivered their story. She drew you in and I quite literally, felt tethered to Skylar and Mitch. I was rooting for them all the way through even during the most frustrating and desperate times. There just seemed to be such strong forces against them but hey, aren’t the loves that are destined usually the ones that have to battle most? The weight of their heartbreak time and time again made me feel depressed and I wanted to cry even while driving in my car because I couldn’t get their story out of my head. All I wanted to do was read and find out exactly how everything was going to pan out. Penelope Ward made me an addict, waiting for her next fix. Not only did this book have the romance and the angst but it also had quite a bit of humor and wit. What’s more amazing to me is that this book wasn’t littered with “hottie tottie” scenes. Don’t get me wrong, they’re there and my goodness are they deliciously thigh clenching but here’s the thing… Those scenes and those heated moments don’t try to overcompensate for the lack of substance. My Skylar is a beautiful love story that goes far beyond the physical need.
This book… Ugh.. Even a day after I’ve finished it, I’m still feeling it. I ate this up, gobbled it down starved for every ounce of Penelope’s words. I pray, I am on my knees hoping that maybe Penelope will find it somewhere in her talented heart to give us a little bit more of Skylar and Mitch—maybe a short story about where they are now? I loved the ending, loved the direction she took both Skylar and Mitch in but as with any addict out there, the need for more is always stronger. My Skylar had everything that I long for in a book and of course, first loves have and will always be my weakness. What sets Skylar and Mitch apart is that they aren’t just each other’s first loves, they are each other’s forever loves. What can be better than that?
I can’t recommend this book enough. If you’re looking for something addictive that will keep you up late into the early morning then My Skylar is just for you. I guarantee a most pleasant book high which I’m sure will only fuel the same need I have for a little bit more.

What a Beautiful Story
This was the first book I have read by Penelope Ward but it will not be my last. I didn't have a choice but to finish this book in one sitting. I could not put it down. The love story between Mitch and Skylar was bigger than life and the kind of love everyone hopes to have one day. Mitch is a sexy but sweet beast of a man and Skylar is his perfect match. The characters were realistic and the story behind the love story kept me turning the pages almost faster than my brain could keep up. Thank you, Ms. Ward for sharing this story with us. Loved every minute of the ride!
