When she's not neck deep in cheese or out hiking, you can find her, notepad in hand, scribbling down one of the many plot bunnies bouncing around in her head. She laughs at her own jokes and has been known to eat her feelings -- Gummy Bears heal all. She's also an incurable romantic, devouring romance novels into the wee hours of the morning.

Features & Highlights

  • What happens in Aspen is definitely not staying in Aspen . . . A girls' trip to Aspen was exactly what Shay needed to forget about her toxic ex-boyfriend. She's got her girls, pristine slopes for skiing, and hot guys everywhere. Of course, her epic self-rediscovery goes completely to hell when a wild (and deliciously hot) skier knocks Shay on her ass . . . and war is declared. Kolton doesn't know what it is about Shay that makes him lose it. Not just his cool---although she does have an unholy gift for that---but his restraint. When anger gives way to explosive chemistry, they're both shaken with the intensity of it. But somewhere between lust and hate, Kolton and Shay realize they could have something real. . . if they don't kill each other first.

My Perfect Mistake could have become a great romance novel and ...

My Perfect Mistake could have become a great romance novel and although there were brief moments of enjoyable nature within the actual story, this book was not my ideal read. I felt like the story was literally scattered among the pages with its ineffective plot and incomprehensible ending.

The characters Shay and Kolton were not as believable as adults looking for a second chance at love. The characteristics of both of the characters felt too much like teenagers involved in their first love story rather than actual adults. The bases of the story along with the characters was too zany for my personal taste and to be frank I did not like the romance at all.

I also did not favor all of the humor in this book. Humor is one thing, until it begins to flood the entire bases of the story like the author chose to do so. I had to take breaks from the story because of all this wild humor. The humor overshadowed the actual plot and by the time I reached the middle of the story the plot had disappeared. This is book is so tedious with nothing really happening to make the book move forward and I did not find it to be all that of interest.

As for the ending, when the story ends it concludes without further detail. Had I not been paying attention to the page count I might not have been fully prepared that the ending was just around the corner. Basically everything within this book from the romance to the plot and lastly to the ending was rushed unbelievably.

Funny and sweet

3,5 stars

This book started out as a hilarious romantic comedy but then it slowly turned into a much more serious and thoughtful story.
I'm not saying that it was bad just very unexpected.

On a ski trip in Aspen, Shay and Kolton bump into each other (literally) and to say they dislike each other would be putting it mildly.
They end up bumping uglies (like rabbits) the rest of their stay but decide to keep it casual.
Kolton is a single father to a special boy and he's also the co-owner of a clothing company called Moondance that produces activewear. He has enough on his plate but just can't seem to stop thinking about Shay.
Shay is an interior designer currently without any good job opportunities. She's also been dumped by her verbally abusive boyfriend so she's a tad prickly (think hedgehog) and don't want another man in her life to tell her what to do. But thoughts of Kolton is hard to let go off.

It was a funny and sweet story and I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys rom-com.

Just like Chasing Crazy

Just like Chasing Crazy, My Perfect Mistake is FANTASTIC! Sometimes books like this just come along when you need a good laugh and some steam to dream about! Kelly Siskind is one of those writers who has such a fun and sarcastic voice! But don't let the great one liners fool you, this book has big heart swirling around in all that lust! Her characters are so relatable in their feelings and struggles that I couldn't help but read the book in one sitting. Dishes be damned!
Forever reader here. I get excited with every new release date.
