Features & Highlights

  • WELCOME TO MY ITALIAN KITCHEN AND MY BIGGEST PASSION: FOOD.
  • Most of my family memories revolve around food, especially family holidays, and everyone knows how important food and wine are in Italian culture. Here are the recipes passed down from my
  • nonnas
  • (grandmothers) that reflect the warm, rustic flavors of Friuli, Italy: rich frico, risotto, and savory polenta. I also love the lighter bites, perfect with a glass of wine: crostini with ricotta and honey, or a tramezzini, the Italian version of English high-tea sandwiches. And I didn’t forget the sweets—from the tiramisu I made with my mother when I was eight years old to the famous basil panna cotta I made to help win me the title of MasterChef.I love to teach, and I’ll show you the fundamentals of fantastic Italian food, including homemade stock (I swear, it’s easy), pasta from scratch, and more.
  • My Italian Kitchen
  • is packed with the food that I love and that you and your family will love too. (Plus I’ll tell you some good behind-the-scenes stories from Season 4 of
  • MasterChef
  • !)
  • Grazie
  • ! And welcome to my kitchen.Luca

Nice guys DO finish first sometimes!

Luca was a very classy guy who didn't pursue success at the expense of others. I rooted for him that whole season and am glad he won. His cookbook is terrific, too!

Dissappointed

I was looking forward to this book, until I got it in the mail. When I opened the book and start looking at the recipes I was disappointed. The book doesn't have a lot of recipes and almost every recipe is based on seafood. The book is the recipes he cooked on Masterchef nothing new or different, it should be named "My Masterchef recipes" instead of "My Italian Kitchen". I was looking forward to more Italian recipes instead of what is in the book. If you love seafood and want to try the recipes that he cooked on Masterchef then this book is for you. I you want Italian recipes do NOT buy this book. Really Disappointed!!!!!!!!!!

It's ok..........

I bought this cookbook for my husband because we both watched Master Chef and really pulled for Luca to win. The book was disappointing though because there really aren't any recipes for "everyday" types of foods. I hope the Luca makes millions from his cookbook but, for us, it really isn't very usable - way too many "fancy" recipes and way too many ingredients in most of them. We'd spend a fortune on buying all the different odd ingredients.

I'm all about the Caprese Panna Cotta!

My wife and I watched the final episode of Season 4 of MasterChef at the edge of our seats because it was such a tight match between Luca and Natasha. We loved Luca's perseverance and positive spirit from the start, so seeing him win felt like a real victory to us too! We haven't yet been to his restaurant in NY but this book is the next best thing. The recipe for his "impossible dessert" is reason alone to buy the book, it blew away the judges, and never left my memory. As a total novice to dessert making I haven't yet attempted the Caprese Panna Cotta, but someday soon... So far, I'm just delighted by the narrative of the book, variety of recipes, and photographs.

Luca, my new favorite chef.

I love the recipes, but mostly I love the stories he shares about his family and life. He seems like a very likable person. I will likely buy any book he comes out with. Thank you, Luca!

Luca, We LOVE your cookbook!

Luca won MasterChef last season and his cookbook is a delight. As a northern Italian myself, I can tell you that the recipes are elegant and delicious examples of Italian cooking at its best. Our family is from Modena so a lot of Luca's cooking "style" is what we are used to. Luca is also a very humble and nice guy. I wish him all the best and hope he does get to open his own restaurant!

My Italian Kitchen - Love this book!

great recipes and stories. I normally wouldn't order a cookbook from a TV show but Luka is so authentically Italian! Some of the recipes call for items I just can't get where I live but it's great that Luca points out substitutions that are easy to find. The pictures are high quality and the cover and paper are high quality.

One thing I don't like about this book is that many of the recipes are for more than one item, like a protein and a sauce but the recipe ingredient list and directions are all lumped into one. So if you wanted to make just the sauce or just the protein, you have to pick through the directions and pick out what you need. Inconvinient but not enough as to prevent me from using. I love this book and can't wait to try more recipes.

FYI - His recipe for "My Mother's Meatballs" are without a doubt the best meatballs I've ever tasted, I cant wait to try more!

Luca's Italian kitchen

This collection of Italian tradition recipes has a couple of pluses for me. The first one, there are some ideas on how to make a complete menu using the recipes in the book; the second plus, the ingredients are presented both in cups and spoons, and in milliliters and grams - here in Italy we don't use cups or spoon.
In the book, you will also find Luca's cheerful attitude he showed during MasterChef, in the description of the recipe steps and in some tasteful anecdotes from the show.
Another personal plus is that Luca from Friuli, like my father's family - we Italian call this "campanilismo".
