Diverse Families

Absolutely LOVE this book.
When another child used slurs to tell my first grader that her family, our family, was wrong I was shocked and angry.
Instead of holding onto that anger against a 6 year old child I decided to use it as a teaching moment.
Those comments came from a place of not knowing. Children assume what is familiarity to them is right and things done differently than their family are wrong.
We bought this book for our daughter, to show her that not only was our family “normal”, but that there are all kinds of families.
It was also purchased for her classroom, so that other children too could see that families come in all shapes and sizes.
This book was perfect! I cannot recommend it enough.

Progressive's dream, social conservative's worst nightmare

Progressive's dream, social conservative's worst nightmare. The book shows different kinds of families including biracial and same-sex couples. These cloverleaf books by Lisa Bullard are so inclusive and etruly encourage tolerance. This and the holidays series should be in every elementary school library.

Awesome book to read to childrean before announcing a seperation.

Recently my partner and I separated and was looking for a book to help our boys understand how families come in all different shapes and sizes. Since we started reading this book before announcing our separation with our boys(at the time 4yrs old & 8 yrs old) this was perfect! Would highly suggest this book to any family going through a similar situation, and couldn't beat the price!

Love love love this book!!!

Not only are the parents mixed race but it preaches acceptance and differences beautifully. My son loves this book and I might even love it more than he does. I'm huge on topics like this and I definitely give it 5 stars! I think it's very important to teach children this concept at a young age.

Prek teacher loved!

I choose alot of cloverleaf books because my classroom loves the stories! I like that the children can relate to the little girl in this story and they said oh that mommy is pregnant before I asked about the characters in the story. They ask to look at the books more now that the children can relate to the characters.

Wonderful story

The story itself is great. I’m irritated that the cover is ripped and I haven’t even used it for a lesson yet.

Story 5/5
Shipping and handling 1/5

I was sent a new copy that was not ripped. Thank you for sending a quality replacement.

Lacks depth considering the topic

This was boring and lacking depth considering the topic. A little too simple. Normally when we get a new book, my son asks me to read it every night. This was one and done.
