Mom's One Line a Day: A Five-Year Memory Book

I am a very sentimental person so this little book is right up my alley!!!

During my daughter's first year, I used a calendar specifically designed for capturing the milestones of a baby's first year ([[ASIN:B00I0BEIE0 C.R. Gibson Baby's First Year Calendar, By Cathy Heck Stickers Provided, Measures 11 x 18 - Made With Love]]). It was a gift and I LOVED It. I made sure to write something every.single.day. I felt so good about preserving the memories. I also always loved to look back on previous months to reflect on things, as it is truly amazing how much development can occur during the first 12 months of life. When the year elapsed and the calendar was full, I was full of anxiety thinking how I was not recording little memories anymore. Thankfully I found this book!!!

By the time I started writing in this book, my daughter was around 15 months old. (Sadly, I have a lag of about 3 months between my calendar ending and then entry of this journal). It is organized such that every "day" has its own page, allowing for 5 entries to cover 5 years. For example, the page for July 20 has 5 blocks on it. You can enter the year for each block, and you have a couple of lines to jot down a thought or a memory for that day. Some days I simply write the new word my daughter learned. Other times I narrate the entire story of our day. Once I have gotten through a full year, I am excited to be able to immediately look up and compare that specific date to the same date in years past. What an amazing way to reflect upon your child's growth!

The only con that I can come up with for this book is that because the pages are so thin (which does have a perk in that it makes this book little and manageable), the ink sometimes bleeds through to other pages. Maybe I write too hard? Not sure, but it has made some of my entries look a little sloppy.

I think this would make a wonderful gift for any mom. I only have one child right now, but this may actually be a really great thing for moms expecting their second, third, fourth, etc child. I know that later-born children often don't get the time/attention that first borns do. This little memory book is a non-overwhelming and simple way for every child's milestones to be saved and celebrated.

I just received this memory book and it is perfect for me! I can never fill a whole page when I write so this is, in my opinion, a great concept! The back of the book says the following:

So for anyone that is wanting to write a lot every day this is not for you, but if you want to capture the nuggets of your family life in quick notes to trigger memories of that day. This is a great way to do it.

I’ve been writing in this for about two months now and I love it. I was concerned that I wouldn’t keep up with it but having it on my bedside table is a reminder to do it before I go to bed every night and it has worked. I’ve only maybe skipped a couple entries the entire 2 months. I love quickly jotting down the cute things my daughter said or did that day, documenting little bits of my current pregnancy, or just whatever we did that day as a family. I don’t mind that it’s just a small little entry for each day because I only have time to write a few sentences and I’m more likely to keep up with it if it only takes a couple of minutes. Side note, its a beautiful journal as well, I just wish they offered more colors since I love neutral colors.

I bought this book for a girlfriend who is due in February. She isn't into memory keeping so I thought this would be more her speed. The book was really cute and I'm glad I got it but it is really small. I didn't check the dimensions before I bought it so that's my mistake but I really wish it was at least 8x10. I have big handwriting.

I'm so excited to start writing in this book. Very nice and beautiful, gold tone around the paper edges. Just beautiful and the perfect size, fits right in my purse!

Bought this for my wife's birthday and she adores it. Her only quam with it is that there's not enough space! Every night when she writes in it, she's like "I wish there was more space!". It's a great way to journal without fearing that process eating a big chunk of time up. She keeps it right next to her bed and just a month later we've gone to revisit it and had a laugh about things we've already forgotten.

A recollection of 5 years: all the Firsts and Lasts, good moments and horrible sibling fights… such is LIFE :)

It’s just a blank book

Just bought this for a friend who is due soon. Unfortunately I didn’t realize that each day was blank. I thought that there were prompts, kind of like the 5 year Q&A a Day journals. It seems like a good quality journal and is very pretty, it just wasn’t what I was expecting. Just letting others know in case they somehow missed this like I did!
