Description

4.5 stars, RT Magazine TOP PICK December 2017 "This marvelous story is part caper, part mystery and part political skullduggery as an attempt to do a good deed backfires spectacularly. Although this is a stand-alone book, Hunter's legion of fans will be thrilled to find a number of familiar characters included in the tale. ...Primarily a caper novel, it is also jam-packed with character revelations and sometimes painful growth."--Jill M. Smith, RT Magazine "Familiar and pulse-driving motifs readers have come to expect from Hunter, supplemented by a mystery-driven plot."--Kendrai Meeks , author of the Red Hood Chronicles Midnight Labyrinth is non-stop adventure filled with humor, romantic tension and the rich texture we have come to expect from Hunter. --The Lit Buzz One of the things I appreciate most about Elizabeth's writing is the humor. I love someone that can make me feel, make me cringe, make me gasp, and make me laugh all in one book.--Amy Cissell, author of the Eleanor Morgan series This book MORE than lived up to the expectations I had, in fact it blew them out of the water. Some moments I was cry laughing, others I was on the edge of my seat reading voraciously to get to the next page..... I'm already ready for the next book. --This Literary Life For every reader who ever asked,"So are you going to write a Ben and Tenzin book?"Reader, I decided to give you five.I hope you enjoy the first, and I thank you for your patience. I've been waiting to write this book nearly as long as you've been waiting to read it.With much love, Elizabeth Hunter

Features & Highlights

  • He's one human caught in a tangled maze of theft, politics, magic, and blood.
In other words, it's just another night. Benjamin Vecchio escaped a chaotic childhood and grew to adulthood under the protection and training of one of the Elemental world's most feared vampire assassins. He's traveled the world and battled immortal enemies.
But everyone has to go home sometime.
New York means new opportunities and allies for Ben and his vampire partner, Tenzin. It also means new politics and new threats. Their antiquities business is taking off, and their client list is growing. When Ben is challenged to find a painting lost since the second world war, he jumps at the chance. This job will keep him closer to home, but it might just land him in hot water with the insular clan of earth vampires who run Manhattan.
Tenzin knew the painting would be trouble before she laid eyes on it, but she can't deny the challenge intrigues her. Human laws mean little to a vampire with a few millennia behind her, and Tenzin misses the rush of taking what isn't hers.
But nothing is more dangerous than a human with half the story, and Ben and Tenzin might end up risking their reputations and their lives before they escape the Midnight Labyrinth.
MIDNIGHT LABYRINTH is the first book in an all new contemporary fantasy series by Elizabeth Hunter, author of the Elemental Mysteries and the Irin Chronicles.

Another Must-Read from Elizabeth Hunter!

Wow.
Ever put down a book and think, "I need to read that again"? This is one of those books. Midnight Labyrinth has all the best things: vampires, mystery, Scottish cussing, and just enough heat to make you ponder the necessity of sunlight in your daily life.
Ben and Tenzin are some of my favorite characters in Elizabeth Hunter's books because you just never know what kind of shenanigans they may get caught up in. The globe-trotting duo stays right in Ben's hometown of New York City for this adventure, though, and it was interesting to see the city through Ben's adult eyes. The book brought back some favorite characters from previous novels, which is always fun to read, and brings in new ones who keep you guessing. And forget love triangle...this book has more of a love pentagon that actually makes sense in the context of the story and is not as strange as that probably sounds.
This book hasn't even been officially released and I look forward to reading the next one. Midnight Labyrinth and the Elemental Legacy series needs to be on your to-be-read list.

If this world gets any richer, it's going to topple Bill Gates.

This first full-length novel in the EL Series continues to explore the world first introduced in the Elemental Mysteries, with the familiar and pulse-driving motifs readers have come to expect from Hunter, supplemented by a mystery-driven plot. Oh, don't get me wrong. There's still heat, and not just one romance-driven b plot but several. It takes a gifted storyteller to interweave so many parallel motives, attractions, and growth of characters. Luckily for us, Hunter is such a storyteller. Her books are the literary versions of an opera by Mozart.

We find Ben and Tenzin established in NYC, their offshot of Giovanni's business established. Ben walks a delicate line of being both of the human world and vampire world, only, as several characters reflect or even have tried to get him to realize before, he is a vampire. Mentally, that is. Spiritually. His body is still human, but his drives, his determinations, and his dogma are firmly rooted in the world of night. But when he happens upon his high school girlfriend, it sends tremors through his identity of self. Chloe's reappearance in his life adds an external reminder of how human humans are, and Ben is not exempt from those consequences or considerations. Tenzin is... Tenzin. And that's why we love Tenzin. But even the eons-old vampire has come to a place where she is forced to pivot on some of her understandings and actions.

Chloe soon catches the eye of Gavin, and this creates an ample sample of awkward vis-a-vis Ben. He and Chloe may only be friends, but that doesn't mean they can eschew certain familiarity their teenage relationship rendered. Ben becomes a de facto big brother. He wants to protect Chloe, while conscious of her own prerogatives and preferences. When Tenzin decides she wants to "keep" Chloe, keeping her shielded from the vampire world is impossible. In for a pinch, in for a pound on this account.

And let me say this... GAVIN. OMG, Gavin. If you're still hoping for sexy factor in this book, look no further than the kilted Scotsman.

I loved this book. I loved this book so much.

Best Legacy book yet!

Best Tenzin and Ben book yet! Loved the storyline, the insight to Ben’s personality and can’t wait to hear about Chloe and Gavin now too. I actually dragged this book out, treading only a little at a time because I didn’t think any it to end. Makes me want to go back and read the originals again. Love Elizabeth Hunter.

Anothet great book

I am patiently waiting for the next book...well kind of. Actually, I am dying a bit inside. Every book I say, "this is the best!" but dang it. How can one not love EH's work? She makes you think and you get sucked into her literary worlds wishing they were real places and people. You want to know these people and be their friend. Five stars. Hands down. Especially since we get to see Gavin again.

Clever, clever Elizabeth Hunter

I love this incredible world Ms. Hunter has created from her first Elemental World novel, A Hidden Fire. I’ve been hooked since the beginning. Midnight Labyrinth has it all. Mystery, intrigue and amazing characters in an exciting and fast paced setting. I love that even if you haven’t read the others, you can still pick up this book and fall in love. I highly recommend reading this, and all of, Ms. Hunters books, you won’t be disappointed!

Gavin in a kilt!!!!!

Like most E.H. fans I have been waiting for this book for what seems like forever. She does not disappoint. I pre ordered desperately hoping the day would come sooner. Once I had the hot little book in my hand I had to pace myself not to read it all in one.
It is great to see Ben becoming a man. His relationship with Tenzin is becoming more complicated. (In a good way). We me t Chloe a strong woman who is likely to be around for a long time. Hint hint. Oh and Gavin is running around in a kilt. Just love it.
I know many of these books could considered stand alone but if you have not already read all of the elemental books you are seriously missing out on great stories, characters & a super fun author.
