Drawn out

in hindsight i thought this would be a very good book... But it took me forever to get into..and when it finally got only OKAY it ended. This book was very non climatic @ all the husbands returned I quickly knew what the outcome was. I am also very certain who the cheating spouse is...... But i will leave that up to you to find out after all it was said and done I did not fault Jessa those married cronies never trusted her but told her their deepest darkest secrets to her... Who would do that ? in any event I really was bummed that i wasted so much time reading this book and a sequel! How could she drag this out any more ..Honestly to tell you the truth the whole replaying of events was a tad annoying (flashbacks) and how long it took them to get from initally getting the message ..to the hubby's getting confronted ..it was too drawn out.....and I got BORED of the whole story.

Negative Message From A Reader

"Message From A Mistress" reminds me of the movie " A Letter To Three Wives" that came out many years ago. I was really into this book because I wanted to see which husband was cheating. I skipped pages and was totally disappointed to see that I would have to purchase another book to find out the ending. Oh, well, I guess I will never know. Niobia, I'm an avid reader of your work, but my thumbs are down on this book.

Message from a angry READER!

The book seemed as if it would be good read from reading the summary and all. And it wasn't a bad idea, it just really had no excitement. The entire book these women just waited around thinking back on all the things that could possibly be wrong with their marriages, what could possibly lead one of their husbands straying to this "mistress" one of their best friends. I found my self flipping past alot of the thought paragraphs just to hurry up and get to the end. and the end was very disapointing. I couldn't imagine forcing myself through another one of these books just to find out who was cheating on their wife! Niobia could have come a little better!

Eh...Could have been better

This book is about a woman named Jessa and her 3 friends. Jessa is the mistress of one of the husbands. She texts all of her female friends to let them know she is the mistress and one of the husbands will be leaving them. But...which one?

So the wives all spiral OUT OF CONTROL trying to figure out which one of them will it be.

The story is so long and drawn out. It's ridiculous. It really didn't have much excitement. Only lots of sex scenes and sex scenes cannot make a book more intriguing. It was just way too drawn out and boring.

No sequel for me...

'It's killing you knowing the man that you love is foolin' around...'

Longtime friends Renee, Jaime, Aria, and Jessa have shared all their little secrets, the good and the bad, happy and sad moments with each other. Renee, Jaime and Aria's husbands leave them for an all day fishing trip so the ladies get together to have a girls day out when they all receive the same outrageous text message. Missing best friend Jessa informs them that she's been `sexing' one of their husbands and that `that' husband will be coming home to her at the end of the day. Enraged the ladies backtrack over their relationships with their spouses in an effort to figure out whose husband has been cheating with their newfound frenemy.

Message From A Mistress has a unique storyline that proves to be appealing as you weigh the odds with the wives while they fretfully discern their relationships with their mates as well as the wicked and witty Jessa. Jaime's farce of a marriage with Eric has her at her wit's end...has Eric sought retribution for the treachery he holds over her head? Renee chose to have it all including a career against Jackson's will...did she drive her husband into the arms of her friend because she went against the grain? Aria and Kingston's love is strong and their sex life is explosive...Aria's past taunts her with the merest hint that she hasn't been the only one harboring secrets...has Kingston been giving her loving to another? In this time of uncertainty, anxiety, and distrust, will their friendship remain intact as they cautiously contemplate the others' marital status and woes. Niobia Bryant did a superb job with the expertise in which she depicts doubt, astonishment, strengths, weaknesses, revelations, larceny, accusations, realistic reactions, as well as a variety of emotions that these diva's exude in their angst. My one and only complaint was the ending, only because the conclusion only made the storyline seem drawn out instead of more of the teaser that I feel the author was aiming for. 3.68

The Betrayal

Message From A Mistress by Niobia Bryant is a story of an ultimate betrayal among friends. The story starts with Jaime, Renee and Aria on a girls' day out, relaxing and talking...when they all receive a single text saying the same thing. "Life has many forks in the road and today I've decided to travel down the path leading your husband straight to my waiting and open arms."

After each woman receives this text they realize it is from their other girlfriend, Jessa. Unfortunately, with each woman receiving the same text, no one is sure who's husband Jessa is referring to. Which leads to each woman to reminisce on past events with their husbands, that makes them think that their husband may be the one that Jessa is referring too. Each woman has their own issue or secret that threatens to destroy their marriage. The question is ...who is Jessa referring to? Also, when it is all said and done will Jessa feel it was worth it all to lose her friends for a man?

Message From A Mistress by Niobia Bryant was a good read for the most part. Ms. Bryant hit the nail on the head in her note to the reader, that either this was going to be a hit or miss with her readers. Unfortunately, I felt this was a miss. I was very disappointed after reading the book that the "husband" was never revealed, making for a long drawn out story. I am curious to know whose husband it is that Jessa was referring to, so I guess I will just have to be patient and wait until the sequel is released to find out.

This book made me so mad.

This book made me so mad. It was so exciting and I could not wait for the ending... and then there wasn't one. The whole book went from entertaining to pointless at that point. Don't waste your time on this book.
It's like the author had a great idea for a story and no idea how to end it - so she didn't. That is poor quality.

A book with no ending.

This was my first book by this author and probably my last. I picked this book up from Walmart as something to read on my way to Atlantic City. The story line was excellent but the delivery was not. The book is like an ongoing drama of nothing. Yes the secrets were juicy but the constant guessing was annoying. I found myself flipping pages full of nothingness. Lastly, the END or lack thereof. If you thought like I did that you would find out who the adulterer was you will be disappointed. The author thought it was a good idea to leave us completely hanging which was a FAIL. She could have at least said his name as the last word in book but no. Nothing, zilch, nada.

In my opinion you should wait until part II comes out to get into this story. That way you'll save time and get closer to the revelation of Jessa lover.
