Incredible book

The story of Aiden and Zoe was my first Samantha Chase book, but it will not be my last. Aiden is oldest of the Shaughnesssy and feels responsible for the rest of the family since their mother died when they were young. Zoe comes in to help with a house he is building and throws everything out of order. This is s wonderful story of how they both overcome difficult past to hopefully have a future.

Made for Us was thoroughly enjoyable! Samantha Chase effortlessly drew me into the Shaughnessy world; leaving me wistful for more. Zoe and Aiden are a couple that I found myself cheering for as they worked through the complexities of a new relationship. The entire Shaughnessy family exuded a marvelous dynamic that will undoubtedly have me return for more installments. Made for us is a fabulous start to a new series of personalities that will undoubtedly leave readers entertained for some time to come!

I love Samantha Chase's books

I received a complimentary book from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I love Samantha Chase's books and have enjoyed every book in this series. This book is the first book in The Shaughnessy Brothers series. In spite of that, it is a stand-alone with a beginning and an ending. There are five brothers in the story and a sister. The father is still alive but the mother died right after the daughter was born.

This book is about Aiden, the eldest. I actually found Aiden unsympathetic at many times. He is rich, successful, outspoken, strict almost to the edge of nastiness, and has a strong belief that is always right. I am actually not sure what Zoe Dalton, the heroine, sees in him at first. Zoe is strongly independent, a hard worker, generous and very likable. Her mother died six months ago so she moved to a house on the beach because her mother wanted her to be more adventurous than she ever was.

Aiden and Zoe spent time together when a very strong storm came and he made sure she left her home to keep her from getting injured. He stayed with her and they spent most of the time in bed. We see Aiden's nicer personality during this time and realize that he has some hang-ups that caused him to be the way he is at work.

However, Aiden goes back and forth between these two personalities and Zoe wants to strangle him, and, quite frankly so do I. I like the two of them together but I really do not know what Zoe sees in him. I don't think he grovels enough for the way he treats her somethimes. However there is an HEA and Aiden definitely loves her. I have an idea that when we see him later, he will be a wonderful husband and will treat Zoe like a treasure.

I still would recommend this book because Samantha Chase is a wonderful writer. Her books are very well-written, and the plots are very well thought out. Also, the characters are always very well-developed.

The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is because I have a hard time liking Aden.

While I had issues with the characters and angst, Chase managed to make me smile.

The tale takes place in a beach side community in North Carolina making this a delightful summer read.
The Shaughnessy family- consists of four brothers, their Dad and a baby sister who is now seventeen. All the boys are wildly successful and Darcy the little sister is trying to deal with her overprotective brothers. The family lost their mother during Aiden’s first year of college and it influenced all of their lives, particularly Aiden’s as he stepped in to help his father out.
The plot- The story centers around Zoe and Aiden. Zoe Dalton is an interior decorator who, after losing her mother, moves to North Carolina. Zoe was sweet, successful and perhaps the only one who will stand up to Aiden. I had some issues with her, and really felt the author’s intention for her did not come across. (See Decaffeinated Aspects) Aiden has some serious control issues and while it worked in his professional life, it has done little for his personal life. His whole world revolves around taking care of and protecting his family. Many of his traits are admirable, but oh, lord the man needs to drop the lease. We get a hurricane, a cute dog and banter as Zoe unlike everyone else isn’t ready to fall in line and take orders from Aiden.
Secondary characters- from siblings to the local sheriff they added interest and hinted of storylines to come. I am most excited about Anna and Quinn whose book will be a friends to lovers romance. I am hoping Dad will get one too and I have a character in mind.
The romance- despite the angst the romance was slow building and I believed in their affections. Chase shared some sizzling kisses but the sex was not overly detailed. It was a nice balance somewhere between Robyn Carr’s small-town romances and Bella Andre’s Sullivan series. Copy provided by publisher, full review at caffeinated book reviewer.
