This is a very useful tool for a previous PC user. Well written and has a helpful index. Not sure I'll ever outgrow this one! While this one focuses on the operating system, Teach Yourself Visually MacBook Pro and MacBook Air is also great.

A substantial manual

This is a comprehensive manual with a Table of Contents and an Index to help you find what you're looking for. As usual, the "Dummies" books answers almost any question on how to use IOS versions in an easy-to-follow fashion. First I bought a User Guide for Seniors but went back to the old reliable "Dummies" versions and more pleased with the latter.

Disappointing! No segue from earlier versions of the OS.

Disappointing! No segue from earlier versions of the OS. I'd hoped that there might be tips for opening and using applications that Monterey made obsolete. Haven't been able to find much useful so far. Apple also isn't very helpful in managing legacy software... even their own. Luckily, I have other earlier versions of the OS running on other computers so I'm not completely at a loss. Monterey for Dummies is much less useful than the David Pogue 'Missing Manual' books that were available for earlier versions of Mac OS. Many of the new 'features' of Monterey provide no value added from previous versions of the OS. Also, it appears that the speed of personal computers has hit a limit...Moore's Law no longer seems to be helping us. This book has marginal utility at best.
