Swiss Macaron recipe book

This is a nice recipe book with helpful tips and tricks and lots of flavors! I had no idea that all the Macaron recipes were made using the Swiss meringue method. You must have a scale because the shell recipes are also in grams only. I was unsuccessful on my 1st attempt using the Swiss method but will try again. I made the raspberry buttercream but had to add extra butter as 4 T's butter and 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar plus raspberry powder just would not come together. I added milk also which I think was optional. I am an experienced home baker but have only started making Macarons for a year or so. EDIT// I have successfully made the Swiss meringue twice now. My favorite recipe so far is the White Russian Macarons!!

I’ve fell in love with Macaron School! I’ve been baking for years just for myself and family and in the last few years I’ve tried to branch out into making more than just your standard cookies and cakes. I’ve tried several macaron recipes, with varying results. I have to say Macaron School recipes have hands down given me the best results.

I’ve tried the french and italian meringue method, but as far as I’m concerned the swiss method as shown in Macaron School is the best and Camila makes it easy for anyone to be a master at macaron making.

I love that the instructions are straight forward and easy to follow, coupled with great pictures for reference. It’s just a plus that Camila is so creative with the flavor choices and there is literally a macaron flavor for any taste bud.

I say no matter of you are a novice or an expert, this is a cookbook you need in your kitchen. You will not regret it.

I follow Camila on FB and IG and have been looking forward to this book. Right off the bat it is filled with great tips and tricks. Amazing recipes I can't wait to try and the first new recipe I tried came out perfect. Her instructions for macronage and do and don'ts are so helpful. Practice makes perfect so I'm off to cook my way through each new flavor!

Recipes that work!

I've looked at different macaron books and found that out of all of them, this one is clearest and easiest to follow. I was a little intimidated at first by all the equipment I needed to buy - a scale! silicon baking mats! a sifter! piping bags and tips! - but my first batch turned out perfectly and I've been cranking them out ever since. I'm having a lot of fun trying different flavors, and have even worked out a few of my own.

Amazing Macarons Every Time

I’ve followed Camila on social media for years and made many of her macaron recipes from her blog, Pies and Tacos. I have many books that detail all the ins and outs of making these finicky cookies yet Camila’s technique is the one I go back to every single time. Her flavor combinations, decorating ideas, and knowledge of macarons is astounding and I never cease to be amazed by each new recipe I make and receive so many rave reviews from friends and family when they taste them. My technique is nowhere near perfect but when they taste THIS GOOD it doesn’t even matter.

I started making macaroons years ago. I bought 8 or 9 books about making them. I tried Italian, Swiss and French methods. I tried everything and after a few pounds of mediocre results, I decided my time and money wasn't worth it. I stopped trying. Until I received cookies as a gift. I thought I should try again. I bought another book. This book!!!! The author gives tips and tricks that I used and it worked!!!!!

Okay, but missing some basics and flavors

I will start with what attracted me to this book. I was thrilled to find a bunch of recipes for inspiration, and I appreciate the troubleshooting chapter. After that, though, I found myself not using this book as a resource like I though I would, and it's been four months now.

I was looking for a pumpkin spice filling this week, and there was nothing. It's like they were intentionally avoiding it, I guess. I also was looking for a basic Swiss buttercream frosting to make my own spiced filling, which also was not listed. I had to go to the internet for that, because the book says to look at all the specific frostings for instruction (and there is no pumpkin spice filling of any kind). I suppose it works for those not looking for basics to help them create more, or perhaps it needed to be organized so I'd find the information more easily to do so. Even though I bought the book, I found more help and inspiration on the internet.

I purchased this book to have as a reference book for making macarons. These cookies can be so intimidating and I have been doing a great deal of research before making them.
