Description

"Abbie holds a torch for young mothers, lighting the path toward a parenthood that is fulfilling and empowering. In a world that tells us we are captive to our children and that motherhood is something to just survive, Abbie's teaching is a breath of fresh air. She shows mothers of all ages that it's possible to love God, love your kids, and love mothering them--all at the same time." --Phylicia Masonheimer, blogger, author, speaker, and podcast host "Abbie's book reads like a motivating conversation with a trusted mentor and friend. She speaks on a subject that has been dangerously glorified--mediocre motherhood--and uses biblical truths to encourage Christlike motherhood instead. I love how she gives practical advice and action steps while also keeping it real. What a refreshing read!" --Jodi Mockabee, author of The Whole and Healthy Family "In M Is for Mama, author Abbie Halberstadt gives readers a fly-on-the-wall view of life in a large, loving family. She knows firsthand what a sanctifying challenge motherhood can be, yet she embraces it for the high calling it is and urges other mamas to do the same. Her writing is packed with practical wisdom, heartfelt encouragement, and an unapologetic commitment to the truth of God's Word. Abbie's book not only makes me long to be a more excellent mother myself but also assures me that by God's grace, such excellence is possible." --Jennifer Flanders, author of Balance: The Art of Minding What Matters Most Abbie is a needed and powerful voice for this generation of mothers. In a world that often considers motherhood burdensome, she reminds us of the blessing in even the mundane and the ordinary. No matter the ages of your children, Abbie will inspire you to parent with conviction, compassion, and courage." --Katie Majors, New York Times bestselling author of Kisses from Katie and Daring to Hope “In M Is for Mama, author Abbie Halberstadt gives readers a fly-on-the-wall view of life in a large, loving family. Must Read for Mamas of All Ages and Stages

I devoured this book. As a mother of 12 myself, I deeply appreciated the fly-on-the-wall view of life in a large, loving family the author gives her readers. Abbie Halberstadt knows firsthand the trials and joys of raising children and— from the trenches — she urges her readers to recognize motherhood for the high calling it is. Her message is clarion call to a bleary-eyed culture that has committed too much time and attention to things that don't matter while shortchanging the things that do, including the next generation.

Is motherhood challenging? Yes. Exhausting? At times. That much is true whether you are mothering two children or ten or twelve or twenty. But raising children is also satisfying, sanctifying, supremely worthwhile, and something we should pursue with an unflagging commitment to excellence.

In an effort to help readers do exactly that, Abbie has packed her book with practical wisdom, heartfelt encouragement, and an unapologetic commitment to the truth of God’s word. M IS FOR MAMA makes me long to be a more excellent mother myself and assures me that, by God’s grace, such excellence is possible.

No more mediocre motherhood!

As a first time mother in a world of snarky memes and videos about what motherhood is like (coming from both Christian and non-Christian mothers), this book is a breath of fresh air. With relatable frankness Abbie urges the reader to strive for more than mediocrity and to live out Biblical motherhood instead. With fun artwork, practical application and even prayers this book should be on every Christian mama's bookshelf! Whether you are a new mom or a little seasoned you can glean something from this book!

Just the push I needed…

If you enjoy or are even content with being mediocre, this book isn’t for you. It’s probably going to hurt your feelings. However, in my humble opinion, every Christian mom needs to read this book. If you desire to be better and want to push yourself to be a more present mother, this book will make you realize and come to terms with the areas you’re falling short. Seeing that I often times fell under the “Mediocre Motherhood” heading didn’t surprise me (knowing I’ve been slipping is why I ordered the book) but seeing it in black and white sure made me rethink my recent laziness, making excuses, and just simply not being the best mother I know the Lord created me to be. I love how this book is the opposite of “everything you’re doing (even when failing) is ok and your kids will be fiiiine” mentality. I needed a PUSH, not coddled and told I’m doing fine even when I’m not. This book is so much more than I even hoped it would be.

Excellent book for Mamas!

Amazing book for Mamas! I love the honesty throughout her writing. I had already laughed, cried, and been convicted before I even got through the first chapter. So much practicality, but focused on God’s Word and how to be a godly Mama!

Amazing book, convicting read, Honest look at mom life

This book!!! Read it!! Full of scripture based, real-life, been in the trenches advice and information that tells the truth and gives a fresh, correct, and biblical perspective on parenting. I get so frustrated at today's secular cultural views on parenting, specifically motherhood. This book is a breath of fresh air that speaks to my heart, and will speak to yours! Her message is honest and the holy spirit is convicting! I felt as though I was sitting and having tea with a mentor when reading this book. The application questions are useful and helpful, as well.

Raise up a child

We are influenced by the culture around us, sometimes in ways we can't even see. As a Christian mom who is raising three girls, I understand the importance of raising my girls up as children of Christ. It's so tempting to allow "mediore" parenting to slip in under the guise of "love" or "acceptance". This book was an encouragement to my goal of relcaiming the true definitions of love and acceptance in how I parent my children. It does a good job of separating the current culture's "mis-information" about good parenting and holding it up against a biblical standard.

Would highly recommend this to any parent as a practical, biblically founded mindset toward parenting.

Counter-Cultural Mothering

I can honestly say that this is by far the best book on motherhood that I have read. As a mom of 5 children, this was a combination of encouragement and a swift kick in the butt. An extremely refreshing read in a very "self-centered" cultural moment.
I read this in 2 days, and instantly ordered two more books for my friends.

You won't regret it 🤗

Amazing biblical support

Not only is this book amazingly written but the art is beautiful too! Encouragement that’s biblically sound and more helpful than venting about the hard part of motherhood. As she says, hard is not the same thing as bad.

Sound Teaching

I have ready plenty of parenting books, coming away with bits and pieces from each. This book can be taken as sound wisdom from beginning to end, taken in its entirety because: Abbie returns us to scripture for every piece of advice. Now, I’m off to clear some space from those other books for just this one.
