  • Soldier of fortune Prophet Drews always worked alone — until Tom Boudreaux became his partner. But when Tom walked away three months ago, ostensibly to keep Prophet safe, Prophet learned the true meaning of being alone. Everyone knows that Prophet, a Navy SEAL turned CIA spook turned mercenary, can look after himself. Which means he must’ve driven his lover away.Even with half a world between them, Prophet can’t get the man out of his head. Maybe that’s why he’s in New Orleans in the middle of a hurricane, protecting Tom’s aunt. But the only looter around is Tom, bursting back into Prophet’s life. It turns out that Prophet’s been stuck in Tom’s head — and heart — too.Their explosive reunion gets even hotter when Tom is arrested for murder. As they fight to clear his name, they delve deep into his past, finding enemies among everyone they meet. Staying alive in such a dangerous world is hard enough, but they soon discover that fighting to stay together is the most difficult thing they’ve ever done.

I wanted to love this one but for me it was just okay.

Prophet and Tom went in different directions for very different yet similar reasons. To keep the other safe. Both are dealing with issues in their own pasts and trying to keep their current reality from blowing up.

A hurricane is barreling into Tom’s hometown, Tom heads in to take care of his aging aunt. Unbeknownst to him Prophet was already there. Months of heartache and troubled thoughts melt away in one combustible reunion.

Okay guys, now for the down and dirty. I hate to say this but, I didn’t like it as much as I did book one. (Ducking under the couch) You know I likey the man love but this was a bit overboard for me. The initial love scene/scenes were a tad too long and somewhat unrealistic. I also wasn’t a fan of the older male couple commenting on “the show”. That’s just me. I found it an “ew” factor.

The plot/plots were good but compared with book one it felt scattered. At one point I had to stop and figure out what they were doing all over again. I kept getting confused on who was saying what and to whom. Who was leaving who and why just all melted together.

I wanted to love this one but for me it was just okay.

Less of a rip off.

First book was a blatant rip off of cut and run, but this one does a good job of differentiating itself from that series. Entertaining and well rounded characters, great plot, and the writing is really great

Loooooooooved This! My Fav of the Series

Ok, Prophet and Tommy are hot together and sweet together at the same time. For two such intense and alpha and emotionally stunted men, they sure are sweet to each other when they need to be. I adored this. Coming off the heartbreak of the first book, the things they do for each other throughout this one really got me. I love than the focus is really on Tommy's history, while still really featuring Prophet in his present (and future). One thing I love about this series is the way you slowly get to pick up the reasons for MC's often inexplicable behavior and why they are general violent and evasive as all h#ll all the time. This one had it all--a great plot, STEAMY scenes, and a wonderful romance. I've read it a few times already.

Heart eyes

Heart eyes for Prophet and Tom like omg BIG freaking hard eyes but I’m curious on Mal and the rest of Prophets team, and I’m still screaming about wanting to know who Cillian is.

Sex is good but don't look for good plot.

Never read the second book in a three-book series. Kind of goes nowhere. Lots of sex and angst but really, some of it is ludicrous. Plotting is terrible. Author doesn't even bother with a resolution to the crime-drama part. If you like Abigail Roux & Madeline Urban and Mary Calmes and don't notice how bad their action-adventure plotting is, you'll prob'ly like this.

Hot, hot, HOT!

Ah, YES! I liked this book much better than Catch a Ghost since Tom and Prophet aren't so angry in this one. They reunite and holy smokes they do!! That scene in the storming rain? Hot, hot, HOT! The story is still intricate and interesting. We learn more about Tom's past in the bayou and his "voodoo s***" (Prophet's words) in this one. The main series story is also continued. Tom and Prophet's relationship grows and develops. They are so perfect for each other! They're sex is off the charts! I learned to liked them in #1 Catch a Ghost, but I learned to love them here. They are so complex and have so much baggage, but the fit together so well. They are so tough, but still vulnerable with each other. They aren't men of few words. They let their actions speak for themselves. And Prophet's real name is revealed! And I love the plot twist that comes with that!

Another kick ass read by Jakes.

A super read.

This one has Tom on missions with Cope. A Cope he chose as his partner when he walked away from Prophet.

Of course he still e-mails Prophet every day and gets no answer.

Prophet walked away from EE and has been doing black ops jobs all over the world. His former boss at EE is trying like hell to get him back but Prophet ain't buying.

Prophet hasn't read Tom's e-mails but when he does he heads for New Orleans to help Tom's Aunt.

Seems that a hurricane is headed for New Orleans and Tom's boss won't let him take the time to head for New Orleans and his Aunt. Of course Tom will be going anyway and Cope will cover for him.

So begins a pretty damned good read.

This one has Prophet, Tom, Aunt Della and her two housemates, a man named Etienne, a kid named Remy, another man named Charlie, Miles, Donny, happenings from Tom's past, a Sheriff who helped cover up a murder, a new Sheriff who thinks Tom's guilty of anything and everything, alligators, murder, a hurricane, Prophet getting a better idea of Tom's voodoo past, Tom landing in jail, a Tom who tries to get Prophet to open up more and Prophet and Tom getting it done.

Five Stars and then some
