Features & Highlights

  • This Christmas, wrap yourself in love…
  • Facing foreclosure on her California home, widowed Kylie Wayne is grateful to accept her aging aunt Muriel’s offer to come back to small-town Branding Iron, Texas, and help out on the ranch. But when an early storm rolls in, Kylie’s dream of a perfect Christmas for her kids is blown away with the unexpected snow. Comfort and joy seem unlikely, unless a certain long, tall Texan with a bad boy’s charm can rope some holiday cheer…   No one imagined restless, independent Shane Taggart would work his parents’ ranch all these years. But with his father gone, Shane is ready to sell his land and see the world—until sweet, sexy Kylie shows up. The dutiful good girl he remembers has turned into a spirited woman, and Shane wants to give her the warm family future she longs for, puppy and all. One kiss under the mistletoe may not convince her, but Shane knows that love is a gift that will last forever…

Boring, slow, shallow characters and storyline.

I have so many great books by Janet Daily, from my book club days. I love every one of them. That's just one of the reasons I was so disappointed in this one, LONG, TALL, CHRISTMAS. I was bored, and did not look forward to reading it each night. The characters were dull, uninteresting, and seemed all around shallow to me. I didn't care enough about any of them to keep turning the pages, and the storyline was the same way. Will the UPS man be back with the package of presents? Will they find a real tree? Will Amy stop pouting and crying--not that she didn't have reasons. Will Kylie punish her kids again for being human? Will Kylie grow up? Will Shane decide what he wants in life? Will Hunter meet any new friends? Will Henry and Muriel see the light, albeit after years and years of waste? Will everyone like what they're eating? Will they be able to get along? Auuuggghhhhh! It was all such an uncomfortable read. Nothing really going on for an in depth storyline, just the most unpleasant of day to day routine. I have read so many really good Christmas novels, mostly romance, that this was outstanding for how bad it was. The answers to the questions were as uninteresting as the questions themselves. This whole book felt rushed and slapped together at the last minute. I agree with the reviewers who don't think Janet Dailey wrote this. It feels like a ghost writer took a sketch of characters and a loose outline, and then threw it together without any thought or feeling for what he/she was doing or putting out. Probably just for the money.(So bad even the model on the cover is hiding his face, so he won't be identified with any of it. haha) Anyway, I am sorry I didn't like it, but Janet Dailey was a great writer. I refuse to count this one.

Long, Tall Christmas is a sweet and delightful Christmas read. It has been a while that I read one of Janet Dailey books and when I won this on Goodreads, I was delighted. I absolutely adored this book. Fast read and a good book to read anytime especially around the holidays. You will love this story.
