Description

"Submitting to the order God has in mind for us figures heavily in this sweetly narrated lesson on how to handle interruptions in the ideal life we make for ourselves. The author, who has written other spiritual guides, is a wife, mother, broadcaster, and minister who uses biblical stories, especially that of the prophet Jonah, to show how unexpected setbacks are God's way of redirecting us toward a destiny that is more suited to our true nature--and His will. Though many of these parables and lessons could drift into sentimentality, Robin Ray Eller's narration elevates them into the realm of memorable inspiration. Even with her youthful speaking voice, she makes a mature and appealing case for the author's message."xa0 T.W. © AudioFile 2013, Portland, Maine Priscilla Shirer is a Bible teacher who enjoys bringing the stories of Scripture to life. She is also the author of popular books including One in a Million , A Jewel in His Crown , and Discerning the Voice of God . Features & Highlights

  • Life Interruptions = Divine Interventions. Interruptions. They’re aggravating. Sometimes infuriating. They make us want to tell people what we think of them. But how we handle interruptions actually tells us more about ourselves. The prophet Jonah’s existence was interrupted by a call of God that would require a complete change of life. And it scared him enough to make him run in the opposite direction. Yet, what seemed to be an unnecessary and useless interruption was really an opportunity for Jonah to be involved in something the likes of which the Old Testament world had never seen before. This interruption was really a divine intervention and it held more adventure and possibility than he could have ever imagined. We, like Jonah, tend to run from interruptions. When major pains and minor problems cause a hiccup in our carefully calculated plans and goals we head in the opposite direction. Who knows what we might be missing by running from what could very well be God’s means of steering us toward the most magnificent outcome of our lives. Jonah could tell us a story or two. So could you. And so does popular conference speaker and author Priscilla Shirer in this personal account of opportunities lost and lessons learned—the amazing freedom and fulfillment that comes from going with God even when He’s going against your grain.

Informative and great for commuting

I have been listening to it during my commute. There is a lot of good info. It does help to re-listen to it. I like that it helps keep me awake. The one whose voice is on it does an excellent job recording and keeping the attn of the listener. Priscilla Shirer goes through the book of Jonah showing how what is in the OT also applies to the here and now including real life application.
