  • New York Times
  • bestselling author Taylor Stevens introduces a pair of wild cards into the global spy game—a brother and sister who were raised to deceive—and trained to kill . . .
  • They live in the shadows, Jack and Jill, feuding twins who can never stop running. From earliest memory they’ve been taught to hide, to hunt, to survive. Their prowess is outdone only by Clare, who has always been mentor first and mother second. As they grew older they came to question her motives, her methods—and her sanity . . .    Now twenty-six years old, the twins are trying to lead normal lives. But when Clare’s off-the-grid safehouse explodes and she goes missing, they’re forced to believe the unthinkable: Their mother’s paranoid delusions have been real all along. To find her, they’ll need to set aside their differences; to survive, they’ll have to draw on every skill she’s trained them to use. A twisted trail leads from the CIA, to the KGB, to an underground network of global assassins where hunters become the hunted. Jack and Jill are deadly, scary, cool, and absolutely riveting...

LOVED this new book by Taylor Stevens. It's the perfect start to a slam-bang new series from the author of The Informationist (the film rights of which have been optioned by James Cameron, btw). The characters in this book are laser sharp, focused and flawed, and the action is tense, non-stop and leaves you wanting more. Absolutely recommend to thriller and mystery readers.

Another hit from Taylor Stevens

Taylor Stevens introduces an exciting new cast of characters in her new novel, and I believe she has a winner on her hands. Having set a high bar for herself with her books featuring Vanessa Michael Munroe, Taylor leaps a rung up the ladder with this story. Terrific characters, an outstanding plot, excellent suspense, all bound together in damn fine writing make this a book not to be missed. Well done, Taylor Stevens!

Better than Patterson

Taylor Stevens is hands-down my favorite thriller writer, and my favorite wordsmith. The two don't often sit well in the same book, but Stevens' elegant prose is honed to razor sharpness to deliver an richly evocative, literary luge ride.

Jack and Jill, squabbling adult children of a new millennium version of Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2, are excellent fun to ride along with as they go off the rails in this ever-escalating, assassin vs. assassin cat-and-mouse game.

One of the less obvious things to love about this book (and all of Stevens' books) is the attention to real-life detail that ensures all events are plausible and possible.

A great beginning to the best new series in years.

"Langweilig" Paradox

The German term literally says something has the characteristic of "a long while." Tried my best to stay with this long convoluted plot, but finally gave up after one too many trips around the barn. Just couldn't get interested in any of the characters. The author hides a good bit about them early going. However, when more is revealed, they don't get more interesting. "Langweilig" is best translated as "boring."

Buy. This. Book. Now.

Wow! A totally new and engrossing thriller — part spy novel, part psychological exploration, part family drama, and a propulsive, unstoppable action-packed thriller.

I simply could not put this down, and my brain is still buzzing with all the permutations of truths and lies.

Holy Freakin Crap It’s Good!!

HOLY FREAKIN CRAP! I loved this book so much. Jack and Jill are fascinating characters I want to know everything about them. There was enough action to draw people in who want a fast paced story, but the family dynamic/drama took it and made it a better more layered, nuanced story. The flashbacks to different times in Jack and Jill’s childhood were great way to help the reader better understand them. I CANT NOT WAIT for the next book in this series!

A solid outing for a new series

After a long absence, Taylor Steven's returns with new characters, a welcome change from her previous series about information hunter Vanessa Michael Monroe.

Jack and Jill are intriguing and energetic, and Stevens' prose crackles. It's a light, speedy read, one that holds promise for future stories, but even on its own, it offers plenty of thrills and entertainment.

Hard to put down once you start

My problem was not being able to put it down after I started it. The entire concept of the warring twins and their kick-ass mother was fascinating, different from any formulaic thriller out there. I’m looking forward to their next adventures in the series.

Characters that will grip you to learn more as story unfolds

Love all of Taylor Stevens books, so I was anxious to read this new one. I wasn't disappointed.

The characters are so interesting and you want to know more....Stevens has arranged the book so you can see what's happening to them in present day and how their past informs their decision making and skill set. It's quite good (and this technique is sometimes just plain awful).

The story isn't one I've heard---unique take on the assassin stories I've read before. The pacing of the book moves along so you're never hoping it will hurry up and get to the point. I always know when I've really enjoyed a book because I'm getting up for work just a little earlier so I can steal time to read a few more pages.

I hope and think Stevens must have much more planned for these two. I can hardly wait.
