Description

Book Description A simple and adorable picture book about learning to go poo in the toilet! About the Author Jane Whelen Banks was born and educated in Canada and now lives in Boston, Massachusetts with her family. She holds a masters degree in Health Studies and Advanced Practice Nursing, and is currently working with homeless mothers and children. She has three children of her own, Morgon, Jamie and Liam, all of whom present with their own set of joys and challenges. The Lovable Liam series was created for her youngest son, to help teach some of the social and verbal skills that so often eluded him.

Features & Highlights

  • "This is Liam. Every day Liam eats lots of good food. Each time Liam eats, his tummy gets fuller and fuller… and fuller… until Liam's tummy starts to stretch"
  • Successful toilet training is a time of celebration for both parents and child. It marks the end of dirty diapers and a forward step in the development of a child. Fraught with both stress and triumph, the period of toilet training can take from days to months. For a typical child, learning to gain control over the body's internal stimuli can be at best challenging. For many children, however, these internal cues can be overwhelming and confusing, leading to both a frustrating and traumatic toileting experience.
  • Liam Goes Poo in the Toilet illustrates the relationship between eating and excreting. It provides visual instructions on how to "relax and push". After much fanfare, Liam finally masters going 'poo' in the toilet, and both he and Mum bask in the glory of a job well done.

this book is not helpful

like previous reviewer, my son is also 3 and potty trained except for pooping on the potty. i thought this book would be helpful but it's only a couple words per page. to sum it up, it says you eat, your belly gets full, you can't hold the poop in, you can't poop in your pants, you have to sit on the potty and push it out. the end.

Five stars from our little Liam

Our son's name is Liam, so this series is PERFECT for walking him through new life experiences. We keep this in the bathroom under the sink to read during potty training moments.

Very simple

I bought this book for my 2 1/2 year old son when we were potty training and really liked how simple it was! I have since bought other books in the Liam series and think they are all great for explaining things to very small children in a simple and direct way. Even though my son has been trained for six months now he often asks me to read him this book while he's on the loo, and it was useful to remind him of the basics during a set back.
