  • bestselling Mitch Rapp series.
  • A toxic presidential election is underway in an America already badly weakened by internal divisions. Slickly produced videos chronicling his progress and threatening an imminent attack are posted to the Internet, intensifying the hysteria gripping the US. ISIS recruits a Mexican drug cartel to smuggle the bioweapon across the border, but it’s really just a diversion. The terrorist organization needs to keep Mitch Rapp and Irene Kennedy distracted long enough to weaponize a deadly virus that they stumbled upon in Yemen. If they succeed, they’ll trigger a pandemic that could rewrite the world order. Rapp embarks on a mission to infiltrate the Mexican cartels and track down the ISIS leader who he failed to kill during their last confrontation. But with Washington’s political elite increasingly lined up against him, he knows he’ll be on his own. “In the world of black-ops thrillers, Mitch Rapp remains the gold standard” (

Actually Much Better Than I Expected!

I didn't know until I received this book that Vince Flynn had died 16 years ago and that Kyle Mills was continuing the legacy of Mitch Rapp. This is a strongly written and well executed thriller populated with the political climate currently existing in America. Politics has always been joked about with such queries as "How can you tell if a politician is telling a lie? He opened his mouth". That of course equally applies to female politicians. It's become very hard to tell who is telling the truth and who is spewing lies to enhance their position. However It seems as though everybody lies.

In this case the incumbent president is finishing up his eight years in office and has surrendered to the fact that a strong female senator (from the other party) is bound to win the next election. Politics now seems to be more about power than serving the public. An exchange between these two adversaries went like this: said the Senator to the President -- "you rule your way and I'll rule my way". Our country is supposed to be a republic, not a monarchy for personal gain. Politics has come a long way from the John Kennedy years. "Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country". Somehow many politicians now leave office with a greatly enhanced net worth.

The political byplay just barely takes second place behind the main plot which involves ISIS unleashing a bioweapon on American soil. CIA personnel are just as ruthless and cunning as their ISIS counterparts. The inclusion of some of the Mexican cartels ups the ante in this increasingly dire situation. Everyone seems to live by the old adage of "fight fire with fire". There are some pretty graphic scenes in this novel that will certainly capture your attention. They are barbaric, they are automatically meted out, and they are very effective. Man's inhumanity to man is a given.

Even if you the reader finds some of this action offensive, it's worth wading through it to get the complete picture as painted by author Kyle Mills. Not knowing otherwise, my assumption is that Vince Flynn may have outlined this story line prior to his death, leaving it to another author to pick up and complete. Mr. Mills has done a god job of completing this adventure. As the Stan Hurley character (American Assassin) is fond of saying: "It's not how you play the game, it's whether or not your opponent ends up dismembered in the woods".

Mitch Rapp is back!

I was lucky, and thrilled, to be selected again as a Mitch Rapp Ambassador, which meant I was given the privilege to read the next installment in the Mitch Rapp saga, prior to the release date. To say that I was excited to read the new book, about one of the greatest characters in the thriller genre, is an understatement. I have been a HUGE Mitch Rapp fan since Vince Flynn introduced him to us in Transfer of Power. Vince, through 13 Mitch Rapp novels, elevated the thriller genre, and set the bar pretty high. After his untimely passing, Kyle Mills stepped in, and continued the series that has become a passion to many people. Mitch has continued to wreak havoc, against those who want to harm this Country, with Kyle at the keyboard for 5 books (this being the fifth). This one is probably his best outing yet. They have all been great, but this one is outstanding. What we got is a novel that reads like one of the original 13 that was written by Vince Flynn. Mitch is more badass, tougher and basically, Mitch. Very compelling and believable story that once started, was hard to put down. Lost some sleep on this one. Mr Mills, you found your own voice in the first four books, while honoring Vince’s style and characters. But in this one, you tapped into a dialect that has created a seamless portal into the past. Thank you from all of us Mitch Rapp fans for all you have done, and continue to do, to keep the series going. For the Mitch Rapp fans, you are gonna love this book. Great action and vintage Mitch. For those not initiated into the Mitch Rapp world, climb in, buckle up and be prepared for a kick ass ride.

A good addition to the Vince Flynn/Mitch Rapp legacy

So what you need to know is this: This is a good book. Take the "well it wasn't written by Vince Flynn" attitude and judge it on its own merits and I think you'll be pleased. I've read my share of books that were written on the coat tails of famous authors. Most don't stand up. (Please stop making books in Robert B. Parker's name!). But this one succeeds on two important points. First, it's just nicely written. Pace is good. Story arc is good and well thought out. Details are nice but not overly done (think Tom Clancy). Second, it continues the tradition that Vince Flynn laid out. It's not breaking new ground --- nor does it need to. It's a novel involving Mitch Rapp, a character I've come to enjoy. He is a continuation of the American hero character (again, think Robert B. Parker) and just fun reading. This book serves that character well. Bottom line: would I recommend it to a Vince Flynn/Mitch Rapp fan? Absolutely. Nicely done, Mr. Mills.

Kyle Mills is doing an excellent job of writing behind Vince Flynn

I am so grateful that Kyle Mills has stepped up to the plate and is continuing Vince Flynn's books about Mitch Rapp.
He is doing a great job because I am continuing to love the series.
This particular outing is about a bioterrorism threat to kill millions of people. Meanwhile a presidential election is underway and the nominees are so concerned with maintaining their positions of power and influence.
If you have enjoyed this series you will not be disappointed in this latest book.
Enjoy.

Don't waste your money on this one.

I am tired of Arab terrorists. Nothing new in this book. Same old terrorists in caves being bombed but one always lives. Mitch goes thru and cleans out the terrorists in one week. The last book was bad but this one is worse. Think I'll send it back.

Stellar Mitch Rapp thriller!!

Lethal Agent (Mitch Rapp #18)

Mitch Rapp has always been a man among boys, someone who dared evil to knock on his front door. Mitch Rapp has never been one to back down from a challenge but Lethal Agent puts Mitch in a situation that is a little abnormal for him.

You get to see a man hell bent on ending the fight that he’s thought has been long gone in this amazing Kyle Mille thriller, building off of the amazing work of Vince Flynn. There are moments you see glimpses of the old Mitch while there are times you see him doing things that are far from what you’ve seen before. Trying to contain a man like Mitch is hard, and a lot more difficult when he has a huge mission.

You won’t be disappointed with the latest installment of Mitch Rapp and you’ll gladly see a lot of Vince Flynn in this with the flare of Kyle Mills! Enjoy!

Un-Rapp

I wasn't sure how having someone else write the Mitch Rapp saga would go after the untimely death of Vince Flynn, but I've stuck with the series. This will be my last book though. I even stopped halfway through to read another book. It just doesn't seem authentic. Wait and get it at your local library or a used bookstore paperback.

Mitch being Mitch; Mills being Flynn

I loved the book. I was sent an early release copy because I was selected to be an "ambassador." It did not disappoint. I spent about 3 days reading the first few chapters because of a very busy schedule-and trying to remember what happened in the last Rapp novel. LOL. However, it took me 3-4 days to finish the book, including a several hour session that ended at 2 A.M. because I needed to finish. The book reminded me of Vince Flynn Rapp books. It had the twists of Washington politics with a politician that is easy to loathe. It also had some of the witty, almost sarcastic humor that was present in the Flynn books. Finally, Mills is developing Rapp in his relationships as well-putting him in situations where he is awkward and insecure-just like normal citizens growing their own relationships. That was done smoothly. Oh, the plot! Loved the element of Mexico and border security mixed in with "good old fashioned terrorism." I was given a free advanced copy-but, I will buy the Kindle version because it was that good. I think it is Mills best Rapp novel, and the plot line and development would put it in my top 5 Rapp novels, maybe even higher.

WARNING! - If you have a weak heart or trouble breathing, consider something less intense

Kyle Mills delivered another exciting, action packed, thriller.
My wife, friends and I have been anticipating this book and after getting it, I couldn't put it down (not even at 34,000 feet!!!).
Mitch Rapp is Back and badder than ever. You may even want to consider the audio book, but...
WARNING - Do not operate heavy equipment while listening (this book gets pretty intense)... you'll love it.

Kyle Mills, thank you for continuing the Mitch Rapp series.

Sincerely,

Mitch Rapp with typical storyline

Having not read a Vince Flynn novel since his death this was a good opportunity to see how Author Kyle Mills continued the series.
Admittedly it has been some time since reading the Mitch Rapp Series but this version does not measure up to my memory of Vince Flynn style. I find the writing of Mills abrupt vs a more finessed story.

This book was almost predictable from the start. Mitch Rapp is pursuing ISIS forces and their leader. This leader is pursued throughout the book and is a central part of the storyline. He is ruthless and kills many people which Mills seems to describe in greater numbers and detail. Mitch Rapp also kills his share with no remorse. Include lethal germ warfare along with the politics of Washington, DC and you have the basis for the book. The timeline and events could almost be construed as current. There is a Presidential Election on the horizon with, in this case, a lame duck President and a strong woman Senator who will stop at nothing to take his place.

The book was entertaining but not outstanding and somewhat predictable for me. However, if you are a Mitch Rapp fan then it may be to your liking.
