Great Level E (and Beyond) Stories

My Kindergartener son is still on Level D but he is starting to read Level E books, I bought these next level readers to try to advance him to the next level. These books I must say are superior to the Level E books from scholastic. Don't get me wrong, I gave the scholastic Level E books 5 stars as well for they are helpful in getting the kids to read, but these have more grown up look, with more punctuation, more of a story/plot and they seem more advanced than the scholastic Level E readers.

Lifesaver!

This box set is great! My daughter is 5 and we started with Tug the Pup box set two before moving onto three. Thanks to these books, my daughter has gained confidence reading and we no longer have meltdowns when she gets frustrated with unknown words. I wish there was another set! She is more than ready for first grade next year.

Great value, fun learning! 1st grade level.

These are great learn to read books. I was looking for something a bit more than an easy reader and these go from E-G which has been great for my 1st grader. E-G levels cover where first graders should be during the first 1/2 of first grade. Interesting stories and cute pictures. Not too long and holds a kids interest. Would recommend!

Too many words for age group

I purchased this set for my first grader. He has struggled with school and this year his big challenge is reading fluency. I was hoping to find a book that had graphics that appealed to him and he would enjoy reading. The graphics and title My Very First I can read set gave me the impression it would be maybe 5 or so words to a page. Some pages are only about 5 words others have several sentences. This to me is too hard for a beginner reader. Disappointed and hoping he will still want to try these books once he is reading with better fluency.

Good practice for 1st grade readers

My 1st grade students love these books. They look like the other I Can Read books, but are smaller and simpler. This set has books for kids who are reading at 1st grade level. The stories are simple, but my kids still find them interesting. The same characters appear in the various stories. As a teacher, I like this set because it has books levels E-G, which can be difficult to find in a box set.

Perfect for a struggling reader

Short, simple books to help struggling readers gain confidence. Good for young readers who have difficulty sounding out unfamiliar words or get tired of reading quickly. These are just a few pages long and rely on sight words with the same vowel sounds to carry the simple story. They are books that beginners can read with little or no help. Once they realize that they've read the book themselves, they learn to enjoy reading instead of seeing it as a chore. The more they read, the more they want to read.
