Features & Highlights

  • "Not for the nervous."  —
  • Daily Mirror
  • The mutant white rat had grown and mated, creating offspring in its own image. They dominated the others, the dark-furred ones, who foraged for food and brought it back to the Lair. The dark rats were restless, tormented by a craving they could not satisfy—but the white slug-like thing that ruled them knew. Its two heads weaved to and fro, and a stickiness drooled from its mouth, as it remembered the taste of human flesh.

Theeereeyyy’rrrrre back!!!

Theeereeyyy’rrrrre back!!! “Frenzied mutant super-rats bloodlusting for human flesh...”

It’s been four years since the Outbreak, and the black rats are hungry! VERY hungry! This is an extremely graphic, bloody read! Rats vs. humans - to the death! There's really not much else to say. If you like 'em bloody, violent, and horror-filled, this book is for you!

Sooner Or Later.....RATS ON STEROIDS!!!

I first bought a copy back in early 1979 when I was in Cheyenne, WY and I really liked the story. What fascinated me the most were the pinkish-gray mutants that were revealed right around the end of the story. And they still fascinate me. Always will. That's why I ordered my current copy of the book on Amazon back in October of this last year. Can you just imagine them taking over a city or state here in the U.S. for real?? Oh boy!!

Good, not great

I just finished listening to this on audio. I actually read this years ago for a school report. I always remembered the story, and decided to read the first book a few months ago. I actually think Lair is slightly better than the first book, maybe because I thought the main character in the first book was held in too high regard by the authorities (for example, sitting in on important meetings and going on missions). Wasn't he just a school teacher or something who just happened to have one of the first encounters? With the protagonist in Lair, it's more believable that he would play a greater part in the unfolding of events since he is an exterminator working on rat control. The book is never boring and is probably the right length for its subject matter: creatures-on-the-loose. Its not a great book, but entertaining if you like horror.
