Worth it for Vanitas

Book came in good condition.

The novel pretty much follows the game until the last 1/4 or so when there is more focus on Vanitas. It really makes you feel for him.
Other than that, consuming the story through the novel allows you to understand it and the overall story more.
Since you're reading the story at your own pace, you get to notice themes/parallels/characterisation that you probably wouldn't if you simply watched all the cut scenes.

Pretty Good Retelling!

Solidly would recommend for someone who likes the series, but maybe can't play the various games for console or time reasons. It gives a pretty comprehensive and bare-bones retelling of the games itself, which is both a high and a low-point for me, as I would have liked to see a little more of the story explored- but I knew that it probably wasn't going to be possible- but it still gave me a pretty good run-down of the story-points I've seen from the cut-scenes.
Pros: Good Retelling, told in a way that keeps things relatively cohesive, cheaper than hunting the games down and buying a console if you don't already have it.
Cons: Feels a bit copy-paste in some parts, unfortunately I'm Norted now.

A Enjoyable Novelization Of KH: BBS

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep: The Novel is a well executed novelization of the 2010 PSP title. The story takes place ten years prior to the events of the first game in the Kingdom Hearts franchise.

Birth by Sleep follows the young keyblade wielders Terra, Aqua and Ventus. A series of events are set into motion by the cunning Master Xehanort and the three friends are separated as they try to uncover his plot.

This novel adds characterization that the game did not have time to implement, including a closer look into Ventus's first days with Aqua and Terra. We also get a more inside look at the thoughts and actions of Vanitas, who is sadly fairly glossed over in the game.

If you enjoyed BBS and have enjoyed other Kingdom Hearts novelizations for the KH franchise, I highly recommend this title. It should be noted that just like the game, you are expected to read/play it post Kingdom Hearts II or certain content will likely be a hair confusing.

Very emotional.

There were some parts to this book where I had to step away, but all in all, it’s still a very good book. I wouldn’t recommend starting with this one, though. Read in the release order of the games (or KH1, CoM, and KH2 in that order if you wanna get to this one the quickest.)

A great book

I gave this book to a friend after I read a library copy.
If you love the Kingdom Hearts series then you will love this book and little different perspective it brings.
