Great First Timer Book for Kinesiology Tape

I hadn't heard of this even though I saw it on the Olympic divers on TV, but I wish I had earlier. My wife came home with these stuck to her back from the Chiropractor at $15 a pop. I, being cheap, bough a couple roles of tape and this book, which have paid for themselves several times over. Book is a great guide if you have no clue and gives good pictures/information on applying the tape and how much to stretch. Takes a little practice, but this is a life changer for keeping fit and healthy while doing daily or sports related activities.

Healing Help for the Weekend Athlete

Sprained thumbs, stiff elbow joints, paintful knee caps and sciatic nerve pain are among the many conditions which can be helped by the process of taping, applying self-adhesive cotton tape directly to the skin. This book explores the amazing benefits that can help both professional as well as amateur athletes get moving again when tape is applied in specific patterns to certain body parts in order to reduce painful inflammation, boost circulation and mobility and assist the body in healing faster. Covers what type of tapes to use, where to obtain them and offers an illustrated step by step guide for proper application for a wide range of ailments. If you need pain management following an injury or over-exertion, Kinesiology Taping is an excellent resource for healing and restored mobility without resorting to pharmaceuticals.

Nice book, but missing key information.

Pictures, directions, placement are all fine. But the only thing, and this is important, there is no tension percentages. Meaning, when applying tape, you have to get it just right to properly rehab and move fascia. Have to have percentages.

On the good side, it gives a very good introduction to ...

It is certainly an inexpensive introduction to K taping, but the actual taping section was lacking. On the good side, it gives a very good introduction to how and why tape is used, as well as contraindications. In the specific taping techniques section my issues were: 1. In their effort to use "lay" terminology, they often used confusing or insufficient terminology for land marks, 2. The lay out is rather confusing as far as trying to find a specific condition, 3. Specifically regarding when/where to stretch and when not to stretch was sometimes too vague, and sometimes seemed to contradict in the chart vs. instructions. It's not a bad book for the price, but for someone coming more from a professional standpoint will probably want to spend more money on a more clinical book.

missing an ailment

I bought this book for one ailment only...Iliotibial Band Syndrome (IT Band). Well this was the one ailment that was NOT included. Why? This is a big runner ailment. This taping method should have been included.

Good Tape Book for the Laymen

I like this book very helpful for the 'laymen'. If you don't have knowledge in muscles and their attachments and actions, (i.e. P.T.'s, Chiropracters, O.T.'s, M.T.'s,) this is a very good book for those who would like the benefit of taping for muscle support and pain relief.

Saved me time & $$$, plus gave me pain relief!!! EXCELLENT BOOK!!!!

Being an RN already, I was able to do for myself what the Chiropractor did for me before with successful relief. The book has already paid for itself. Since I work nights & sleep days, it is hard to stay awake till MD offices open, so doing my own taping has saved me time AND $$$!!!
I'd recommend this book to anyone willing to learn this concept to help themselves AND others! Excellent visual guides/photos makes it so easy to understand!!!
DISCLAIMER: ALWAYS seek a medical opinion from a licensed MD for all ailments FIRST!!!

Great for the layman!

A great guide for the layman with simple treatment applications. I am impressed with the varied uses and hope to try them out! Very simple explanations and procedures. I reserved one star because this guide did not cover the details of taping ligaments and or organs as I had hoped. My work requires more detailed guidance. But I am still happy with the book and appreciate the photo guides.
