Disapointed

I have been a James Patterson fan for many years. Love many of his series. Killer Instinct, the second in the series, was very disappointing. Not because I did not like the book, the story or the characters but the author's political bias was quite evident in many parts of the book. I read and watch TV for pleasure not to have someone's political bias shoved down my throat. I have my own political opinions and do not shove them onto other people. If you ask me for my opinion I will give. If you like it or not is your purview. There are now 4 authors, rather famous ones, who I have loved for many years. However, their political bias turned me away from there books after repeated attempts to throw their views into a book. I always give someone the benefit of the doubt. But after this recurs, I am done. I know I am only one reader and it may knot mean much but still I will no longer pay money to have someone bias shoved at me. This is Patterson's first offense in my eyes. I will have to wait and see what happens with future books!

Not liking it ...

I'm reading this before giving it to someone who has recently been on a James Patterson book binge. Only 40-some pages in and so much is striking me in a bad way that I'm just not believing any of it. The writing style is too simple-fast like juvenile fiction where readers have only a limited attention span -- much more distracting than involving. On top of that, I just can't believe or like the characters or the plot. It all just seems like the new cliché. Male characters are implausibly big and dumb, unless they're gay, in which case they are condescendingly brilliant. Clever girl detective saves idiot cop boss from stumbling over a live bomb. The whole terrorist attack on NYC again, and no one except the clever girl detective looks to the sky. And the opening murder is more offensive than inventive. I'm sure there are better works of fiction out there. Not so sure I can hang in there and finish reading this one, much less give it as a gift.

Have already read it

It's a good book but several pages into it I realized I've already read it. I'm rereading it as I've forgotten some things, but it's not as exciting as the 1st time.
