Need definitions

Great book! The only reason I didn’t give it 4 stars is that I think it would be helpful to have the definitions of each highlighted word on the page. That would help kids completely understand the meanings.

Great vocabulary, bad equity message

I bought this because it would build vocabulary. AND it was written by a young kid. I saw him on the Steve Harvey show and I wanted to be supportive. It has several examples of not being very equitable for girls. The girl worked hard to prepare for the debate while her brother played. Guess who won? Then he asked her to be his VP! Sorry, we don’t need the younger generation to operate this way and learn this from a book ALSO!

New words...

The new words are highlighted, but my grandchildren have to look the words up for an understanding...I do like this book and will be purchasing vol. 2

Just o.k.

Too expensive for what you get. Words are too big for such a short story.

Great book for kids

For a 7 year old, I believe this book was very well written. We’re speaking of a 7 YEAR OLD AUTHOR! How can this not be loved? He’s sharing with children the importance of having a strong vocabulary, while teaching new vocabulary, while doing so! Thank you, King! I’m ready to purchase more ANY time they’re available.

Less than I expected

Ordered this for my 7 year old grandson after seeing the bright 8 year old author on the Steve Harvey show. Thought it was a great idea to add some "big" words to his vocabulary. However, I found the story more suited to a younger child -- very babyish. There were only 13 "big" words throughout and the book was only 27 pages. Was disappointed. The idea had value though. Ended up buying an illustrated children's dictionary, ages 8 - 11, which he can use at his own pace.

It’s okay...

I didn’t want to believe the reviews but it’s true, I wasn’t impressed either. I know it is by a child so that’s impressive and so wanted to support that. Taking that part out of the equation, the storyline could’ve been much better and there could’ve been more words. I do like that they added a glossary in the back. My 4year old did enjoy the story, and that is all that truly matters.
