Features & Highlights

  • MEET JAKE DRAKE, BULLY BUSTER. When Jake was three years old at Miss Lulu's Dainty Diaper Day Care Center, what did he know about bullies? Nothing. But he learned fast! Why? Because Jake was kind of smart and not a tattletale, and he had no big brother to protect him. He was a perfect bully magnet. But everything changed the year Jake was in second grade. That's when SuperBully Link Baxter moved to town. Jake had his hands full just trying to survive, until class project time. Who did the teacher assign to be Link's partner? You guessed it. Jake has to use all his smarts -- and his heart as well -- to turn himself from Jake Drake, Bully Magnet, to Jake Drake, Bully Buster.

OK, but outdated

I guess I'm too sensitive as a parent to care for this book. Not sure if will give to my son to read. My son has missing limbs and is asked some pretty harsh (but often innocent, not bullying questions: like seriously once asked when he was 6 if 'when you were born did your mom want to just throw you in the trash'...he is missing a hand not like severe disability). Anyway, it irked me that bully buster meant, being nice and understanding to the bully, not telling adult, and miraculously the bully is nicer to you. My kid doesn't really get bullied but still I just thought why let him read this: it flies in face of everything you try to teach your child about dealing with bullies.

Jake Drake, Bully Buster- A Mr. Cole's Class Review

I just got done with the book, "Jake Drake, Bully Buster". This is a good book. It has two boys in it. One is named Jake Drake and the other one is named Link Baxter. Link is the bully. He bullies Jake. Then Jake finds out that link lives in the same neighborhood. The next day, Jake's teacher makes him do a report with Link. If you want to find out more, rad the book.
My favorite part was when Jake goes to Link's house for the report and Link's sister bullies him. My other favorite part is when Link gets Jake all wet in the bathroom. My least favorite part was when they were on the bus because Link is calling him Flake Drake. If you want to find out what happens to Link and Jake, you have to read the book.

Jake Drake Bully Buster

Hi, my name is Kaden. I am going to present a kid's review about Jake Drake. This book has a lot of school personality like bullying, trouble, laughing, sixth graders, and all that stuff. This book actually shows that Jake finds out why bullies are bullies. But I don't want to tell you too much about it. It is a good book. Even mean kids should read it. I'm not going to spoil it, but that's why I gave it five stars.
My favorite part is when Jake admits that Link does the whole project and then when they get home, Link doesn't make up a mean name. He calls Jake his regular name and also thanks Jake. This is one of the greatest books in the world. If you get a chance, read it.

Insightful

I haven't actually finished this book. Once again I purchased a book that is for older kids when my boy is only 4. This book is too long and in depth for him. But when he gets old enough for a longer book it will be a good one. I read bits and pieces through out the book, and it is very well written. It is in clear language from the point of view of a kid who is bullied. His observations of the bullies is interesting. It comes across as very real. The part about a snotty nose boy who snatches his cookies and takes a bite out of each and returns them. Then his observation that the cookies are now tainted so he gives them to the boy. He says I was only 3 how did I know. And if grown ups are so smart why do they allow kids to bully other kids? I have the feeling I am really inside the mind of a boy who is thinking about things. I like it. I can't wait to read it to my son when he is old enough.

Great starting point for discussing Bullying

I used this book in Health class with my 4th grade students. We would read and discuss each chapter. It got the students talking about what bullying is, how it makes one feel, what can they do if they are being bullied or if they see someone else being bullied. The kids loved the book and our discussions were great. It is a great starting point when discussing bullying!

Happy :)

I read this book because I am a volunteer with the In2Books e-mentoring Program and adored it. The book came in brand new condition as well. Fourth grader Jake Drake looks back on his experiences as a bully magnet and how he finally learned to deal with bullies when he came faced with the SuperBully, Linx Baxter.

Good Book for Kids

I liked like this book because it was funny, especially when Jake went to the bully’s house and realized he was not a bully. One thing the author did well was he included creative details. My favorite part was when Jake was eating lunch and Link started bullying him. My favorite character was Jake because he was a good friend when he used nice manners with his friend. I would recommend this book because it would be good for third graders.

Gift for grandson

My grandson loves the Jake Drake books. He is in the in-between ages of being read to and learning to read himself, so these are perfect. They arrived in the condition they were advertised in and ahead of time.
