Features & Highlights
I believe we were put on this earth to enjoy lives of joy and abundance, and that is what I want for you and for me. It's not my intention to give people advice on how to solve their problems (I leave that to my husband). But I've had my share of struggles over the years, and I know a thing or two about what has worked for me. I have chosen to be an active participant in my life rather than a spectator, and in so doing I have chosen how to be a woman, how to be a wife, and how to be a mother in ways that are uniquely my own. I offer the stories of these choices as evidence of the power of sheer determination, will, and faith in God.
You've seen her on television with her husband, Dr. Phil. But now it's time for a heart-to-heart conversation with Robin McGraw. In
Inside My Heart
, Robin speaks woman to woman, inspiring you to embrace and celebrate the many roles you play and encouraging you to make deliberate choices that lead to a richer, happier, and more meaningful life.
She shares with you the life-changing moments of her childhood years, dating and marrying Dr. Phil McGraw, raising two sons, and asserting herself as a woman in a man's world to show you that you have the power to make choices in your life. In fact, she's convinced that you must choose to go after the life you want.
With a deep and abiding faith in God, Robin McGraw shares her story so you too can make choices that reflect your own heart's truest priorities and highest goals.

Cotton Candy in Book Form
I was tremendously disappointed by this book. Because she and Dr. Phil had both appeared on some of the Christian talk shows endorsing the book, I thought perhaps somewhere amongst all the cutesy anecdotes there would a story about her relationship with Jesus Christ. Although there are references to God within the book, never once does Robin exhibit the courage to state she has a relationship with Christ. (My question: if you are on Christian talk shows touting the book, why don't you mention Him even once in your book?)
My opinion is that this is cotton candy in book form. It's sweet and pink and kind of pretty, but it lacks any real substance or depth. While the anecdotes about her family are entertaining, this is a book to read when you have nothing better to do with your time.
I realize she truly believes that her blessings are due to her "choices" in life, but I believe she's not really had that many hard knocks despite the fact that her father was an alcoholic.
I figure there are delicate china kind of women and Melmac kind of women. God created delicate china to be protected and put on a shelf and brought out to use for company; he created Melmac for everyday use because it can withstand virtually anything without being destroyed. Ms. McGraw impresses me as being delicate china; she thinks she's Melmac and had hardship, but she's really been fairly sheltered. God protected her from too many of the knocks and dings of real life because she wouldn't have been able to handle them.
My opinion is that you should buy the book for its entertainment value when it comes out in paperback. It's definitely not worth the hardback price...and as someone else stated, it's double-spaced, so you're really only getting half a book for the price paid.

So many judgmental reviews from disapointed "Christians"?!!!!
I bought the book, read the book and loved it. Unlike many of you I didn't except DR.PHIL quality from this book because (I know this may be HARD) BUT SHE is NOT Dr. Phil!
I love Dr. Phil, I think it's great what he is doing for our country and for all of the guests on the show. He reaches out to alot of people who would otherwise NEVER seek professional help and let them know that THEY ARE OK!!! So many people seek counseling after seeing that their "quirks" are shared by other people, that I am sure Dr. Phil has saved many more lives than HE even knows about.
If any of you watch the show on a regular basis and / or go on the website you would see that there is an OVERWHELMING demand for ROBIN to be a part of the show! She is there to support her husband EVERY SHOW, which is a wonderful thing. She has raised a BEAUTIFUL family, and it's not a "Dr. Phil Brand" like SO MANY OF YOU CALL IT - it is this wonderful family SHARING their lives with us. They are RESPONDING to what AMERICA wants. Apparently it is not all of you who have responded negatively, but if you would do a little research you would see the demand to see what goes on within their family! The demand simply to HEAR from Robin! It's just a shame you are too judgmental to see that part.
We have all had a hard life, get over it! She probably didn't go in to every story of her life BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T WANT TO, and guess what, maybe her life was better than yours, but isn't it the CHRISTIAN way to hope for the best in everyone else's life? Give from yourself to help aide others? Instead I just keep reading about what a spoiled brat she is and now she's a pretty little rich girl! She lived in poverty, how many of you did? How many of you judgmental people grew up with a binge drinking alcoholic? How many of you never had a store bought dress until you were out of high school? It saddens me to see a beautiful woman, inside and out, share her life with the public and all of you people bash her for doing so! Call her China that will be broken if you knick it a little. I'd love to see you go head to head with this woman. She is smart, beautiful, graceful - and full of so much dignity she won't even be bothered by these NASTY comments you made. I guess I don't have that much grace or dignity - because I AM BOTHERED by people who claim to be someone they aren't!
Everytime I go to a bookstore and am looking for a new author - I open a book and scan a couple pages, I leaf through it to see if I think I'd like it. They let you do that you know! If it didn't seem like something you'd like, why did you buy it?! How could you be so simple-minded to expect her books to be as hardcore as her husband? It is awful judgmental of you to all bash her first shot a writing.
Sure she is a Christian Woman, she has a Christian Publisher, she tours with Christian groups - so what? The book isn't a book about Jesus, or saving people! It's putting it simply, "I can bring myself out of poverty on my FAITH. I can raise my family on the lessons I have learned and pay attention to the choices I have made. Because of MY FAITH. I did not settle for a husband who would abuse me or binge drink BECAUSE I DESERVE BETTER! Because God has made me strong, because MY FAITH in him has made me WORTH IT, and I know it!" The book is not titled "My walk with Jesus." Most people don't like to be Bible Bashed. She is gracefully sharing her life, and it is VERY APPARENT that God is a huge part of it!
God forbid any of you bitter people actually make it rich someday. God forbid you write a book and I would hope God would spare you of all the trash talk you have give this wonderful woman, and not only did you stop there, but you attacked her husband and her CHILDREN! What kind of PERSON can do that?
Shouldn't we (as Christians)be happy for her that she came out of poverty to be ROBIN MCGRAW?! A household name. A wonderful mother. A wife that so many people aspire to become! The audacity that I have read here has truly thrown me for a loop. So many people are JUDGING HER for promoting her book at a Christian seminar?!?!? For not talking ENOUGH about Jesus?!
We can interpret the Bible anyway we want to, we can sit around and debate verses and books and chapters and religions until the cows come home - but I can tell you a few things we can't debate, a few things that ARE WRITTEN IN STONE, and so many of you have blatenly had no regard for the God and religion you all claim to follow, and those are the 10 commandments. ALL of you . . .
"Thou Shall Not Judge"
Maybe you should take a look at yourselves before you go in to so much depth about what a terrible person and author Robin is, what a BRAND they are creating with Dr. Phil and his family. His wife is brilliant, his son Jay is amazing and I am sure Jordan will be just as brilliant. You don't to watch when he has his amazing family on - turn the TV off. Have you EVER researched to see how many books Jay has written? His anti-bully campaign where he went to school to school . . . but he is just part of the BRAND.
You should be embarrassed you even wrote that down. Seriously, I think all of you are simply jealous of a woman who went from rags to riches and now that she wrote a book you may not agree with, you finally get your chance to bash her! TRULY AMAZING!
I think Jealously may be one of those written in stone too! I am happy for her, I am proud of her and I still aspire to be half the mother to my wonderful children that she was and is to hers. We'd all be so lucky to have HALF her stregth!

Inside my heart
This book made Robin McCraw look like she has a huge ego. She thinks she does everything right. I think she's controlled. The part I really didn't like was when her son was projectile vomiting and she took him to a doctor who did nothing really. I had the same situation, my doctor told me to go straight to the hosptal, an infant can become completely dehydrated in 24 hours. This should be called, "another stepford wife".

For the Curious - What is Robin Really Like?
If you've ever wondered what Robin is like, here's your chance. She shares small glimpses of her life with the famous Dr. Phil and her children, and shares sometimes painful childhood memories. It's a life story that inspires you to take charge of your own life. She's assertive without being aggressive - some women will embrace her as a role model. You won't find advice to solve your problems. You need to find your own path, and she encourages you to take the first step.
I was impressed by her attitude toward others. She cherishes "family" and goes the extra mile to understand and help them. Does she take on the school on behalf of one of her sons? Yes. I also like her ideas about mothers-in-law. No wicked MIL tirades here.
I'm impressed with her empathy and willingness to meet all people half way.

Just above average...
Robin speaks from the heart and seems to be a great person, loving wife and mother, but there isn't much depth to this book, so I was a little disappointed. While I did enjoy reading about Robin's past history, I was looking for more insight and practical advise to women. She touches very briefly on a few good ideas but there are no new nuggets of wisdom, spiritually or otherwise. The book reads very quickly because honestly there just isn't much here. A much better book is "the Confident Woman" by Joyce Meyer, for a true "how to" on living with passion and purpose.

All brides should read this book
I wish this book had been available when I was 30 years younger as it might have helped me avoid some serious life errors. I would have even been happy if this book was available when my daughter married 8 years ago. However, even though the gems of wisdom came too late for us, I recommend that all brides and wives read this book if they want to learn to improve their life, being supportive of their husband yet never giving up their right to be treated well. Robin McGraw strikes just the right balance of compassion and determination. It is instructional without being "preachy" - though best for Christians the wisdom could apply to women of any or no formal religious faith. It would be a good idea for young grooms to read this too (to get an insiders view from the other side). I bought the book because of the show on Dr. Phil about the book (okay I confess I wanted to read the "dirt" on Dr. Phil) but it was a delight in that you got the "dirt" but learned that the truth was given with a heaping helping of compassion. I don't know if I would enjoy hanging out with Dr. Phil (he is intense) but I think I would love Robin. She admits to what she did wrong and tells women how they can find their voice to make the best life possible for themselves and their families. If your life isn't perfect (and I've yet to find anyone whose life is) then read the book, and if you agree pass it on to your sisters (biological or otherwise). Here's to McGraw family values!!!!

Robin McGraw's Inside My Heart Book
I thought the book was absolutely wonderful and I do not like reading books. She shared different situations and experiences she has had with her husband that shows how they handle things as a couple which I found very helpful to apply to my own marriage. She is motivational because she shows you how she has overcome trials and made them her reasons for being the way she is. There are also some very sweet stories she shared about things her husband has done for her which were very nice to read as well as them together as a family facing scary times with their young children. I have recommended this book to lots of people so far and will continue to do so. I think its a wonderful book and that Robin is an amazing woman with a terrific attitude about life and relationships.

Not For Women Only
Wonderful book by Robin McGraw. It's not only for women its also for men. That is if you understand anything about love, caring, and women's needs.
Yes, it is a simple book, not difficult to read, family tragedys and how Robin handled them as a woman. I think it is worth reading. I as a man enjoyed her personal sharing.
I also feel like I know a little more about the private Dr. Phil.
...and Choices something we all need to learn and understand, if we don't already.
I felt as if I was the only one she was writing for. She makes you feel as if you are sitting across from her as she tells you her life.

A delightful tale!
I love to watch Dr. Phil and I absolutely adore Robin. However, this book didn't offer the type of guidance I was looking for. What I did enjoy, was her honesty and candor. Robin takes us into her personal life as a daughter, wife, and mother. The message that we get the life we ask for and expect is very true. Although for some readers, who've experienced real low's in life, this may not be the book for you.
