Description

"One of the very best motorcycle travel books I've ever read, Graham Field has a very distinctive voice reflecting his outlook on life and his love/hate relationship with the human race." --- RiDE Magazine "We found ourselves well and truly hooked by Graham's openness, clarity and easy-going style of writing and travelling.xa0The writing style is light and engaging, highly recommended." --- Overland Magazine "I can't get away from the fact that I really enjoyed reading it and - the acid test - my other half is sick of me quoting from it." ---xa0Self-Publishing Magazine "Designed to inspire you." ---xa0Motorcycle Sport &xa0Leisure "One of the best books in the adventure motorcycling genre in the last few years." ---xa0Adventure Bike Rider Magazine "What a fabulous book, what a fabulous ride. I couldn't put it down.xa0This book is a reflection of the author's soul. I challenge anyone to read this book and not start planning their own journey." ---xa0The Road "Graham is effortlessly amusing, and I know how much work goes into that. He has his own idiosyncratic view of life as he wanders around the world like a pied piper taking us along for the ride and... you don't even have to like bikes." ---xa0Ted Simon author of ' Jupiter's Travels ' MORE REVIEWS "An honest, non-glossy account of the highs and lows of a motorcycle adventure. Factual and yet very entertaining. A great read for anyone, but for those who prefer to travel mostly alone, on a modest budget, without concrete goals or corporate sponsorship this is a must." -I. Jones ★★★★★ "An epic journey by an author whom I grew to be very fond of. Highly recommended to stir your soul and broaden your horizons." -John Coates ★★★★★ "A cool book for anyone that needs an antidote to the daily grind, or needs inspiration to go forth." -Murray ★★★★★ "This book is beautifully written. Graham is an amazing storyteller. I learned more about geography, as it really is, than I've known in my 87 years. His writing tells about life as it really is in the countries he visits. I couldn't put it down, his narrative style is humorous, informative and even soul searching. I recommend it to anyone! You don't need to be a biker to enjoy this book." -Laurel ★★★★★ "A fantastic read, found myself living each day as if i was there with Graham and the daily chapters made for perfect bedtime reading sections.xa0Could not wait to read his next book." -Pam Cowan ★★★★★ Graham is a compulsive traveller, with a compelling manner, brutal honesty and integrity. His books are authentic experiences from his 35 years of diaries, kept as he's meandered around the planet from foot to bicycle, to motorbike to four wheels.xa0Travel on his mind, bikes in his blood and little in his wallet, Graham's low budget journeys of humour and honesty have inspired many to hit the road in search of their dreams. A solo traveller at heart, his observations take his readers with him to Mongolia, Iraq, the Arctic Circle and many other distant destinations.xa0With a life time of travel anecdotes and hard earned wisdom, Graham's view of the world is unique and contagious.xa0Graham is the author of five books, which are also available as audiobooks. Twice nominated as 'most inspiring adventurer' by Adventure Bike TV. He was a resident co-host on Adventure Rider Radio RAW for five years with Sam Manicom and Grant Johnson of Horizons Unlimited. He has written articles for various publications worldwide.xa0Find out more about Graham and get a FREE AUDIO BOOK at GRAHAMFIELD [dot] CO [dot] UK Instagram: @megaflid Twitter: @GrahamFieldRTW facebook [dot] com/graham.field.5

Features & Highlights

  • “Well, now I’m committed,” he thought to himself after telling a national TV game show audience that he wanted to ride a motorcycle to Mongolia with his winnings. He felt the fear that commitment always induced in him; he was hoping they might have edited that bit out. Commitments are something he tried to get as far away from as possible, the only other constants in his life being twenty-five years of financial prudence, travel and motorcycle obsession. So there he was, committed to going very, very far on a motorcycle with his meagre prize money. Consequently he spent a winter on eBay and a spring in the garage preparing his $1000 KLR 650 for an uncertain life on the road. Armed with a cynical humour, a strong sense of direction, a vague sense of balance, and no sense of proportion, he embarked on a 15,000 mile solo motorcycle ride to see what would break first; bike, body, or budget. Leaving an indifferent existence in England behind he headed east, looking for purpose, a new life, and a new location to live it. He was in search of greener grass.

It was fun. Specially if you understand the difficulties of motorcycle riding
and trans versing cultures.

Raw authenticity at its best.

I have listened to Graham on Adventure Rider Radio Raw since its inception. I can identify with his observations and musings as a kindred spirit. He learned the adventure really begins with yourself and is truly experienced as a lone traveler. It's why I travel alone. Environmental interaction is the essence of the adventure travel experience. Naked baths in the vastness of Mongolia are what life was made for. Total FREEDOM that can only be experienced by the free spirited traveler. Graham's descriptive writing encapsulated the full range emotions you experience as you ride into the unknown and realize you are fully alive.
