Description

Suzy Kline, the author of nineteen previous Horrible Harry books and four books about Song Lee, lives in Willington Connecticut with her husband, Rufus. Suzy and Rufus have been married for thirty-eight years. They met in the state where they both grew up: California. Suzy grew up in Berkeley and Rufus in Sacramento. Suzy graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in European history. She met Rufus at the Davis campus while attending that campus for a year. They got married and lived in different places, including Canada, before settling into Connecticut, the state they now call home. Suzy taught in 5th and 6th grades at Shannon Elementary School in Richmond, California for 3 years, and 2nd and 3rd grades at Southwest Elementary School in Torrington, Connecticut for 24 years before retiring this past June. She now enjoys writing full-time and visiting schools and libraries. The couple share their home with two cats, Teeter and Hoag. They have two daughters, Jennifer and Emily, and four grandchildren: Jake, Kenna, Gabby and Saylor. A fifth grandchild is due in September, 2006. Suzy's mother just turned 96. She dedicated her most recent book, Horrible Harry Takes the Cake to her. Suzy and Rufus enjoy attending UConn football and basketball games, and Suzy uses the UConn library as a reference for her writing facts.

My Favorite Book

Horriable Harry in Room 2B is my favorite book. Not only is it a book that i have grown up with, it is also an interesting and enjoyable book to just sit down and read. From the funny stiches he gets himself involved into, and the "double revenge" that he puts upon Sidney, this book has always made me giggle. If you arn't sure if an older kid would like it, let me tell you this, im 16 and Horriable Harry in Room 2B is DEFINTALY my FAVORITE book!

Excellent fun for the early chapter reading kid

We LOVE Horrible Harry in our house! (Shhhhh, Harry's not really horrible. Keep the secret!) These books are a pleasure for kids and adults. It brings back humorous memories for me and my daughter can relate to the school atmosphere and classroom setting. My daughter is 6, in the last 1/3 of Kindergarten reading on a 2nd to 3rd grade level. While she can read these books independently with little/no help, they are lots of fun to read together. A key feature for me before we starting reading Harry was the number of volumes in the series. There's a deep catalog, a very nice benefit allowing us to get to know the whole gang in depth. My first few Horrible Harry books came from our local public library and because they don't have the entire series, we read out of order. This series rewards the reader who goes in order because the books follow the school year. Yes, you can jump around but there's a nice progression if you go in title order.

great read-aloud for preschoolers

Perfect for my 3 and 5 year old kids. The antics of Harry are humorous, not dangerous, and he hides a soft spot and empathy for a shy girl in the class, acting as her 'savior' when she is mortified to perform in the school play. Looking forward to reading others in this series!

Great for students beginning to read chapter books!

This is such a cute book! I'm a teacher and have bought multiple copies for my guided reading groups. The main character Harry is what it sounds like, horrible! These are perfect for first and second graders to read. My students can't stop reading!

Great book!

I liked this book because it was very funny. One thing the author did well was write detailed text. My favorite part was when Doug gives Harry a cookie. My favorite character was Doug because he tells the story. I would recommend this book if you like books that are funny and informational.
