Happy Birthday, Cupcake!

My kids (ages 4 and 6) and I loved this book! We enjoyed reading Terry Border's previous book "Peanut Butter and Cupcake" and were looking forward to the release of "Happy Birthday, Cupcake!". It did not disappoint. The pictures are adorable, and the story is sweet. I've found that reading these books encourages my kids' imaginations. They now talk about what foods would be friends, how the food would act, and how it might feel about things. I like a book that we continue to think about even when we're done reading.

Overall, this hardback book is a great deal. It is a large and colorful book that would make a great birthday present or look cute sitting on top of a bookshelf in your kid's room.

If you already know Terry Border, you will no doubt have already purchased this book. If not, go ahead and click now. You'll meet Cupcake, who is trying desperately to plan her birthday party along with Muffin, who seems destined to foil every idea she thinks up. The creative and clever illustrations beg for repeated readings and will definitely make you giggle. My son(8) loved it and I can't wait to read it to my first graders in the fall. Very useful for teaching prediction, patterns, and character emotion.

This is the second book we have purchased that was written by Terry Border. It is great. I love the pictures in it...they are hilarious! My son is 6 and just learned to read, and we are reading these together. These books are witty, hilarious, and you will love the creativity of the pictures. I hope Terry continues to produce these, because we will continue to buy them. To the story though...

Cupcake wants to have a party, but due to her friends are all food, she has to consider all their needs. If it's hot they will melt, if they go on a boat some food items might spill, etc. The book has a good message but is also funny. A+

We love Terry Border's Peanut Butter and Cupcake, so we purchased this book. The pictures are adorable, but the story is a bit less charming than Peanut Butter and Cupcake. The puns are very adult friendly, though, so we enjoy it.

The cutest book!!

I didn't know what to expect when ordering this book blindly without seeing it in person but the story was cute...but didn't care for the pictures.

Of all the Terry Borden books, this is our favorite. I've bought several more copies as Birthday gifts for the little readers I know.
