The writing was immature and character thinking did make sense.

Not for me. Writing seemed very childish. There was way too much of the main character asking questions, i.e. "why did that door just open? Was there a draft? Why is it so cold in here? Is someone watching me? If, so, why would they be watching me?" After awhile, I couldn't take it. I feel that a normal person just doesn't think that way. It really ruined it for me. These books got such good reviews and I almost bought the whole series. Im so glad that I didn't .

Disappointing

I was excited given the reviews but could not finish the book. Main character is irritating and unrelatable. Maybe the author was going for witty and smart but turned out just bitchy and rude. Why does a female character need to be portrayed as an emotional mess??? It could have been a good story.

Okay, not a page turner

I bought the paperback book. The story is okay but I don’t feel the paperback book itself is worth the price of $12.99. The paperback book is big but also has big typeset. Was able to finish it in less than 2 hours. During the 2 hours I took my Shepherd out for potty walks, made dinner and put laundry away. If I do get the other books in the set I will order to put them on my Kindle Fire, and not pay the paperback price. Usually a book at that price has a lot more content. It isn’t a bad story just not worth the price. It reminded me of other stories in the same genre. Very similar to other Authors. Not really any surprises. Too easy to figure out the ending way before it ended. It wasn’t hard to put when I took breaks. I’m not even sure it’s worth the Kindle price. It was basically something to pass time for a couple hours. There are better books out there for the same price or less. If you want a fast read, it’s just okay.

A good read with no depth.

This is a basic and simple mystery with a predictable ending. This book is lacking in detail but If you want an easy weekend read then this would be a good one to try. It’s a good story with a nice flow but my only complaint is that I wish there was a bit more depth to the story and to the characters. If you like simple and basic stories then this is the book for you.

Not scary or suspenseful, pretty lackluster

I really don’t get all the four and five star reviews. The writing was amateurish; I expected something along the lines of Rebecca with suspense building and clues coming with a few red herrings. I expected some heart-pounding supernatural encounters, but it just didn’t come through. Not much character development, some plot developments that just didn’t make sense, a dumb conclusion that no police detective would buy. It was all told matter of factly, like a 5th grade book report, not like a suspense novel. Supposedly she and the renovator had a romance, but even that was just matter of fact with no emotion or description or detail. You just had no idea what either of them saw in the other. They didn’t go on dates, they didn’t sleep together, but he let himself into her bedroom in the mornings while she was still in bed her first week in the house? It just seemed weird. All in all, it felt like reading a first draft of a Nancy Drew mystery. Blah, disappointing.

Bought it for the cover, really enjoyed the book

I had never read a paranormal mystery. But I liked the pink dress on the cover so I bought the book. Cover art is important! I enjoyed the book so much that I bought the rest of the series. Unfortunately the cover art on the rest of the books doesn't measure up to the pink dress. But I'm sure that I will enjoy Addison's adventures. Addison is an interesting character & the author is an excellent writer. Even when I thought "Why am I reading a paranormal mystery," I couldn't put it down. Highly recommend!
